Quickie Quarter Pound/SSL-1/SSL-6 compare.
I couldn't wait for my new pickguard/switches. I just got an SSL-1/6 pair in the mail, (thanks Stratcat), and had to try them out. I now have the Cool Rails in the bridge, Vintage Staggered (SSL-1 RWRP) in the middle, and the Custom Flat (SSL-6) in the neck. I know, its an odd combo, but its a marriage of circumstance.

DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!
I've been browsing musiciansfriend.com for pups and found this interesting thing:
They call it DiMarzio Multibucker, which is the brotherhood of Chopper amp; Fast Track single coils in a size of a standard humbucker! The lovely thing is that both are humbucking, hum-free coils! Chopper is an real humbucker while Fast Track is a single coil sounded! ...must be one hell of a versitile busta!

Gamp;L ASAT Classic
Haven't owned a tele in years, the fender necks are just way to narrow for my paws and the 7 1/2 radius just didn't work for me. I played a Gamp;L ASAT Classic a few weeks back and loved it, it had the Gamp;L #4 neck which is shaped similar to the neck on my '57 reissue Lester, it felt great! I put my Legacy Deluxe up on ebay with the intention of selling it and buying a new ASAT Classic (no mention of a trade in the add), out of no where I got a trade offer from a local fellow for his mint ASAT Classic. This thing has the #4 neck and all the upgrades. The stock Gamp;L pickups were swapped out for a custom shop nocaster neck and texas special bridge (I never have like the Gamp;L pickups, they should contract with SD for all their pickups). I got to take it out and play it today, this little guitar kicks butt. Sounds awesome through my little 18 watt combo. How cool!!!
great axes

Extensio Cab: Ohms Question
My amp is 60w and has 3 speakers. Each speaker is rated at 5.3 Ohms and is wired in series. So the whole amp is 16 Ohms. Does this mean if I put an extension cab on it should be a 16 Ohm cab? Because I can't find one anywhere.

pedals with modelers

Anyone tried a Tech 21 Tri Od ? Direct to PA?
Hi guys.. Anyone here ever try the Tech 21 Tri Od ? If so, did you use it direct? I mean going to the PA or Mixer while jamming with a band? If so, tell me about it? Did it work good? Does it have that tube feel? Tech 21 wrote me and said it would or could be too compressed if I used the Tri Od as a preamp and then used a tube power amp.. They said I should go directly to the board because the Tri Od has a power amp imulator?

Sapele?
Does anyone know about this wood? How widely is it used? Any high profile companies using it? What are it's tonal properties? I read just now that it's used as a cheep substitute for mahogany, but I've never heard of it before. Here's a picture I pulled off of google images:

Help w/new amp
Yesterday I went to GC and traded that POS Marshall JCM 4212 towards a Vox AC30CC2. I've been wanting a Brit amp for a long time and since the Marshall turned out to be a lemon I figured I'd dump it while I could. At least now I know 1st hand why people bash on the channel switching JCM 800's - They Suck! Anyway, the AC30 is a nice amp, but I'm having a tough time dialing a tone that I like. I tried the suggested settings on the hang tag, but the overdrive/gain seems to be a little too fizzy/buzzy. Is the distortion on the AC30 supposed to be like that? Or is this amp a lemon too? Any info is appreciated. BTW, I'm trying to get a good classic rock crunch sound. The sound I'm getting now nails Mudhoney's tone, but I'm looking for an AC/DC or Rose Tattoo sound.
