This combo works very well in a Les Paul. Good balance. I like the jazz in the LP more than I did in my tele - it's more lively and sensitive. It's not as complex sounding as a 59n, but it has nice presence and a tight bottom end. It's bright, airy, pretty cool. If you work at it, you can get 59n tones by putting some power on the strings.
I think I'll keep this combo for a while

Humbuckers in Peter Green's Les Paul...
Anyone have any idea what kind of magnet was in those humbuckers? Someone who should know told me A4. Sounds an awful lot like a2 to me.

Soloing help. URGENT.
Well it seems like, whenever I read a thread about help with improv, you guys just say quot;Just mess around with the scale until you find something goodquot; (or was this in another forum?)
Well it's hard for me to make anything out of the scales! My Teacher wrote down the whole G Major White Note Scale and i can't seem to get anything good out of it. It sucks especially when someone tells me to jam along with them and I make crap.

Uli John Roth/Ritchie Blackmore tone?
I'm not much of a Strat person anymore having ventured into heavier music but a few guitarists keep me coming back to my old strat... more famous players like Hendrix and Gilmour obviously, but more importantly Ritchie Blackmore and Uli John Roth. Having the Scorpions quot;Tokyo Tapesquot;, I was blown away by Roth's tone and playing. It didn't seem like a typical Strat - less shrill and more open. Is anyone familiar with Uli's tone and his playing?

Finally got rid of my JTM60 Marshall!! Good Riddance!!
I finally got rid of my Marshall a couple of weeks ago for 650Euros!!
Thank God. The great thing is that the guy who bought it really liked it so it was a win-win situation. I thought that it sucked compared to the great boutique stuff out there and OLD Marshalls.

actives or passives w/ solid state
I'm looking at pickups for my Ibanez 1570 (basswood, rosewood fretboard, maple neck, edge pro trem). I'm looking for something that will bring out the low end pinch harmonics, ala Wylde, Slipknot, Shadows Fall.

bridge pickup in neck position
my dealer offerd me a dimarzio virtual paf bridge used and cheap.
can i use it for the neck position of my les paul?diimarzio tech said it would be bassier than the neck one.but acording to their tone charts its only by a fraction the bridge has 0.5 more bass and 0.5 les treble ,same mids.

Help in upgrading a mim strat
Guys I'm having a problem with my trem block right now. When I strum sometimes, I think the block shakes and I hear some vibrating sound from my guitar. I'm sure its not the frets, I think maybe something like a spring sound. Anyways I stuffed stuff between the block and the body of guitar, the sound went away, so I guess its the trem block. I have three trem springs in use now and the bridge is flush with top of the body.

Stiletto vs. Powerball
I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on either the Mesa Stiletto or the Engl Powerball. Unfortunately, I am having difficulty finding a way to demo the Engl. I would love to do an A/B comparison, but that's even more unlikely. I play rock primarily, but need an amp to be somewhat tonally versatile. Thanks for the help.

Trembucker (TB-59) and 2 Cool Rails Wiring?
Hi everyone,
This is my first post to the forum. I searched for this, but did not find my specific answer. I have never wired a guitar before, so this is somewhat new to me. I have a Trembucker (TB-59) and 2 Strat Cool Rails that I am installing in a Soloist style body.

Help with an ID
Just pulled the pickups out of a guitar I just bought and one is a SD, all black, no print on top, one coil with screw adjustable poles, the other coil non adjustable. A sticker on the back has ' CCL ' on it. It has a 4 conducter wire, but I can't tell if it's original. It reads 14.75 k. If anyone could clue me in as to what model this is, I'd greatly appreciate it.

singles mounted side by side?
If i take the middle pup and mount it next to the the bridge will it sound like a double if its wired in series? I notice that if i put the neck and bridge together the magnets repel. The middle and neck atract, and the middle and bridge atract so this makes them like one single magnet right?
