Guys I'm having a problem with my trem block right now. When I strum sometimes, I think the block shakes and I hear some vibrating sound from my guitar. I'm sure its not the frets, I think maybe something like a spring sound. Anyways I stuffed stuff between the block and the body of guitar, the sound went away, so I guess its the trem block. I have three trem springs in use now and the bridge is flush with top of the body.

1) Do you guys think adding two more springs on would stop the noise? If so how do I add the springs without moving the bridge. Or would I be better off with the callaham trem block and five springs? If I go that route how do I attach to my bridge? Are the three screws under my saddles screw into the trem block? If so I just unscrew those and just screw in the new callaham?

2) I'm also thinking about upgrading my saddles too. I might get this from : localhost/or this from : localhost/choosing one do I just check the individual width the saddles I have right now just make sure they match up with the new one's width and the screw is in the correct position.

3) After I get these parts I'm probably going get my nut recut. This is around like $20-30 correct? After all these should I be able to intonate my low e string correctly. I've been having problems lately with it being about 15-20% high on the 12 fret and there isn't any room to move the string back because of the spring.

Sorry about all the questions, this the first time for me in attempt in installing new hardware. Thanks in advance for the help. Also Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Here is a quick fix...stuff a piece of soft foam rubber under the trem springs and see if it helps......joe

Sometimes the block will rattle if the springs are a little too loose---give it another 1/2-2 turns and see what happens...as far as the intonation/spring thing, remove the spring or cut it down. When you set the intonation, the saddle not going to move under string tension.

Your talking about the tremolo mounting claw right. I'll try screw it down a bit more to see if it helps.

Okay I found out what vibrating problem was coming from just now. It was loose screws in stripped holes, guess I'll do the toothpick thing to get it fixed. For the toothpick thing how do I cut down the ends so that its perfectly flush with the guitar body? Sanding the thing down, I would probably scratch the finish.

Man good thing you found it so fast..... i have had trouble with a few MIM guitars over the last year with buzzing and rattles... one was a bad vintage style tuner that vibrated when i played G and A notes..... the weird part is it sound like it was coming from the bridge.... And another MIM Strat i had made a weird sound on some notes and i found out it was the G string ringing above the nut.... it would ring out and that sound of the string above the nut was causing weird overtones on some chords and notes....

Yeah thats the part I hate about problem sounds at first I thought it was tremolo or something in the pickup cavities. But it ended up being a pickguard screws in the outside of the body.
