Does George Lynch use the Screamin’ Demon and the Lil’ Screamin’ Demon?

How would an HSS strat sound with the Screamin’ Demon and 2 Lil’s sound? Would that be a super strat or what?! Does Mr. Lynch use this arrangement?

Whoever is looking for a guitar project should do this a report back.

from : localhost/are his signature ESP axes, and his tone has stayed relatively quot;stablequot; for a while now. I´d say it´s fair to venture a yes.

The Lil demon was designed to give strat players who want the tone of the screamin demon a close pickup that fit´s in a strat pickguard. I´ve never seen George use something other than a bridge humbucker

The Kamikaze looks great and so does the Sunburst Tiger. I bet those are some sweet playing axes! But, who can afford them?

George changes gear faster than anyone I know.

My impression is that he used the Screamin' Demon more in the early to mid '90's. When I saw him a couple months ago, he was playing an old Fender with a vintage single coil PU. Before that he was using EMG's on a baritone.

In addition to the Demon, he's used the Distortion, and I believe the JB.

Vintage Fender in George L's hands? I guess if he processed the signal enough he can make it sound like he wants! Wow. That's cool! Did he still have a tough metal sound with the vintage SC's?

Here's a pic I took.

He sounded EXACTLY like George, even with SC's.

F#min, best chord there is

I have 2 Lynchs ...

One has a Demon in the bridge.

The other had a Demon in the bridge and an SSL-1 in the neck, and it now has a Bareknuckle Miracle Man in the Bridge and an Irish Tour in the neck.

The ESP neck pup is their take on the SSL-1. Haji (Skull and Snakes guitar) is the exception with bladed pup in the neck, but this is a different body wood ...

Congratulations. Someone's gotta be buyin' those things. I'm glad it's you.
Which one do you have? the Kamikaze?

By the way, when's your world tour gonna bring you through the Midwest/Heart of America so I can see you play one?So, whats the difference between a $2500 ESP and a $600 ESP? Besides the obvious $1900 difference? Never goes out of tune?

In the meantime, there's just the fest in PA planned atm ... but that's gonna be a good one!

Biggest diff is in the quality of the paint job, better wood, and much better playablility. The LTD's are total crap to me.

You can do a search and probably find plenty of my anti-LTD rants!! LOL

LTD's are not even close to ESP

I've got a ESP quot;Skulls and Snakesquot; which has an alder body and a quot;Screamin' Demonquot;. The guitar sounded thin and treble-like. I took the pickup out and tried it in a few other guitars, including a strat : sounded even worse. My conclusion is: totally worthless pickup, even in mahogany guitars. (Tried it with Mesa Dual Rectifier, Marshall TSL 100, Vox AC 30.)
My advice : buy any other pickup! Screamin' demon? A sissy scream to me.

Yep, I agree completely. I owned the same guitar and thought the same about the pickup. It was thin and nasty sounding. I was going to swap out the pickup but then I realized I also hated the push/pull pickup selector so I ended up selling the guitar. But, I still like ESPs. My main axe is still a H-S Custom Shop M-II that shreds most other guitars I have played. Love it! I would like that Camo looking Kami but I'd have to put in a three way switch and a new pickup.

As far as I know he was using the Esquire because his main guitar was in for repairs.

I saw George Lynch a couple months ago and he was using an esquire, and it looked like a Lil' demon in the bridge. His sound wasn't as aggressive as his Dokken sound, but he still got a great tone. Kinda meaty with a lot of clarity.

It's weird that people mistake LTD for ESP so often. So far as I have seen, I've never seen ESP on the headstock or even ESP/LTD. Yet everybody talks about ESPs all the time. Looks like they failed when they tried to have an affordable brand and a high-end brand.

I have to yet say, that I'm quite surprised by LTD guitars's hardware quality. Tonepros, locking tuners, earvana nuts, SD pickups. I don't know about the pots, switches, jacks etc., but others are really well in place. It's also funny when you see a high-end ESP and it doesn't have tonepros, earvana or locking tuners. The price difference is propably, most of all, japanese workers instead of korean ones.

If you want to see some more ESP stuff, check out It's the stuff that we get here.

There is no such thing as a 600$ ESP (new)..an ESP is either Made in Japan or older and Made in the USA, and both are wonderful guitars (nothing I´d ever buy, but that´s a different story...).

The 600$ ESP is almost certainly an LTD...that means it´s either made in Korea or Indonesia, almost certainly has lower quality woods (AGATHIS!!!), paint and workmanship (but those you can´t advertise with, quot;Toneprosquot; on the other hand looks GREAT in a catalog, convienient way to cover that kind of thing up), and is IMO the absolute bottom of the barrel: a Cheap quality Knockoff of a high quality knockoff of the original ( Neither ESP nor LTD have the reputation of being the greatest innovators in the industry ), designed almost exclusively to part beginners form their money by being flashy and looking good, but sounding and playing like crap for the most part...

I kid you not when i say that if someone were to give me an LTD by mistake, I would play it for a week (just so thequot;presenterquot; is satisfied that I like it), strip it of all hardware, use the neck/ body for some Zerbian Physics experiment (usually involves bullets or a tree) and build a decent, optically near identical guitar out of the salvaged parts and some decent wood

exactly.. they put all that good hardware on **** wood and the worksmanship leaves to be desired.. i played my fair share of LTD guitars lately and none of them even came close to my epi, let alone the charvel that i got on monday.

hardware can be replaced, wood and worksmanship cannot.

if i everplay a realy ESP, i'll be able to tell you more, but till then, i aint ever buying korean guitars again EVER. better to dish out a few $'s more and buy an awesome used axe
