brian may's wiring, part 2: pickups
ok now that i have narrowed my wiring down to like 2 or 3 (with another option coming up) i thought i would look at my pickup options. i want this to be a standard strat type deal, but very, very versatile. i play everything from funk, to reggae, to punk, to classic rock, and even some hard rock like chevelle. one i was thinking was cool rails neck, duckbucker middle, and either hot rails or lil 59 bridge. what i want is a fairly bright neck good for chords, solos, etc., and a nice twangy strat- like middle, with a crunchy bridge pickup that has a good midrange and bass, good for power chords and what not. the reason the lil 59 is there is because i was thinking maybe the hot rails was too hot for what i want, because i use the bridge pickup on my strat a lot, not only for crunchy, but for clean too. i was also considering..... dimarzio (only because they have a good sellection of sigle coil sized rail pickups) but i dont know a thing about them. any suggestions?

Do you ever use the Tone Control(s) on your Guitar?
I was always wondering if anyone ever really use the tone control(s) on their guitars. I always have mine dialed in at full all the time and never touch it again except if I feel that my tone is sounding a bit bright, then I would back it off a little. I hear a few people complaining that certain pickups and such are too bright sounding, I was wondering if they even tried to roll off the tone control(s) on their axe to fix the problem.

Vox ValveTronix Head Very Accepting To Pedals!
I plugged my pedal board into this head today and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the amp was very accepting overall...Just a very slight loss in the highs and the lows(Very slight)due to the extra overall lead length of George Ls from the guitar to the Vox..If you use alot of pedals, you would have to invest in some kind of buffer/signal booster..

Odd resonator question
Is there a resonator guitar with a P90 out there mass produced? That's got to make an original, nasty sound for slide blues...

Which one of these 4 is the best amp?
I'm wanting to buy a new amp and am stuck on four amps: Fender Stage 1600, Line 6 Spider II 212, Marshall MG250DFX, and Randall RG200G2. I like rock, hard rock, and metal. I also want it to have a good clean vintage sound and have the best sounding distortion for all of these types of music. Which one of these amps would sound the best for what I like?

My Number One Strat changes with my tastes, and I'm starting to think it will be time for a pickup change soon. Right now it has the following:

to compliment jb-single coil match
I just had a jb full size hum put in my washburn x10 and am considering replacing the 2 single coil. I like the sound of the neck mid combined clean and want a good clear tone out of the neck alone. I want the pups to have close output vol but not to be louder than the installed jb-bridge. hum canceling is not a significant concern-cost effectiveness ia a concern?? thanks

SP/DT question
Sorry if it's already been covered in another thread, but I was wondering if I could use 1 SP/DT switch to split both a bridge and a neck humbucker at the same time? Can they share the same lug, or does each pup need it's own lug (and hence require a DP/DT?)

WTB single coil for mid Ibanez RG 550 guitar..
Hi guys.. I'm going to stick a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge position of my RG 550.. That said, I need a good single coil.. Anyone have anything that want to sell ? I'm in Indiana, so the closer you are the better, but anywhere in the US is great.. I'd pay by USPS money order, but I won't be in town again after tonight until either Tuesday or Wed..
I'd like something that will split well to give me that SRV tone on songs like quot;Lennyquot;, etc.. or Hey Joe, etc..
