Have an Ibenez S-series with factory pick-ups and am thinking of replacing them with a Duncan Distortion pick-up set ~ any thoughts as to if this is a good or bad idea . Thanks for any comments either pro or con ? Thanks Sl___dething

I'm looking for a good beginners bass and amp, what should I be looking for in quality and features. What wattage of amp would work for small club size venues? I'm looking at spending no more than about $300 to 600 total for amp and bass. Tonefordays, how does your wife like the Agile that you just got her? All advice is very appreciated!

I just realized that there are really only so many things that can be varied to change the tone of a standard humbucking pickup. These are the ones i can think of.

I have a set of JJ 6l6's I got from klinkdetroit a few months ago that I never used.He only used them briefly,as in a few hours.I would swap them for an equivalent set of EL34s or maybe some 12ax7s.$25 Shipped in the CONUS.Paypal is ok , $1.I would consider other trades too ,though I cant think of much I want now,but try me.

What factors affects the pickup's eq, bass, middle and treb? I know dc resistence, resonant peak and magnet type come to play, but what else?

Does anyone know what the term quot;Zonequot; refers to in the Fender quot;Zonequot; Bass? Whats the Zone?

Ok - so I've been swappin' out pickups in various guitars over the past couple of years trying to get a sound I'm happy with.. I think I've finally nailed it in most cases (Thanks SD!) but in the process, I've now got a stack of pups that I will probably not use (or at least not anytime soon). So.. I figured I'd put them up for sale or trade. There's also a few odds n' ends that some people may be interested in.

I would like to add a bit of beef to the bridge pup of my Legacy. It is fitted with 3 SSL-1's. I gather that some sort of series mod with either the middle or neck pup might do the job. My guitar is currently wired as in the attatched schematic, thanks to a couple of forum members.

I have a strat and wanted a slightly heavier sound , so I got 2 hotrails (wants the best of both worlds) I wanted a slightly funky sound as well,so I add in a duckbucker on the bridge.I used a schaller 7 position switch I now have a grubby sound that is loud on the neck and middle and an in audible bridge pick-up.I have checked the circuits and all is ok .. The bridge sound livley but low in amplitude compared with the hotrails.I assume I have made a fundimental mistake with my choice ..Can I please get some advice on why these dont seem to work together and what should I go for to make my next pu unit....I am sticking with a fender switch thats for sure...

Has anybody got input on the celestion neodog speakers? I am looking at a Vox ad212 cabinet that sports 2 12 inch dogs. How do these sound compared to a V30 or greenback? Vox is very proud of these cabinets and I'm trying to justify the cost, not to mention there are not a lot of cabinets in the trapizoid trim.

I want to get a noise gate pedal. But I can't decide between MXR smart gate and Boss Noise Suppressor. Anyone can enlighten me about these items ? Thanks...
