I thought this might be interesting. I love sitting back and thinking of all the guitars that I have owned throughout the years. This sort of reminiscing always makes me think of my very first guitar and my first decent guitar. It was sort of bittersweet for me because my first axe was an Applause by Ovation acoustic that was in horrible shape, nevertheless I banged away until I convinced my dad I was ready for a better guitar. We then bought a really nice Alvarez electric acoustic out of the local paper. I loved that guitar, but shortly after figured out I was born to rock and I needed an electric so being a die hard Jimmy Page fan (worshiper) I had to have a Les Paul. So in the summer of 1995 I saved up and bought a Les Paul Studio. It was wine red with gold hardware. I loved it and wished I still had it..... just like I wish I still had most of the 40 guitars I have had. I can't imagine some of you guys on the forum that are much older than me and some of the cool guitars you have had throughout the years seeing as I have only been at it for about 10 years.

A buddy of mine, Mark Meyer, uses one and I was pretty impressed listening to him the other night. He plays with a bass player, vocalist and a drum machine, and he plays rythym for a couple of verses, then when he wants to solo he presses a button and the Boomerang plays the rythym he's recorded back as a loop and he solos over it. He can also record a bridge and the Boomerang will play the verse until he presses a button for the bridge, then it'll play the bridge and when the bridge is over, it'll switch back to the verse again. Is this the same pedal Bill Frisell uses? Seems like it works best with electronic drums...the rythym has to be rock solid in order for the loop to be in time. But I thought the tone my friend was getting was very good! Lew

Gibson SG custom faded 2004. Cherry brown. Pretty nice condition, has a ring on the back of the neck where it sat on a guitar stand, but its unnoticable. 59 neck and JB bridge. Comes with origonal pups. 700$. Will trade for Japanese Start or Tele.

I just recieved my ESP back, les paul style guitar. I've gone through a few of the same model. This one I noticed when setting it up it has a low neck angle. When setting up, I have to screw the bridge and tailpiece pretty much all the way down whereas on the others I've owned they were significanly higher to get the same action. Is this normal or out or spec? The action is low enough as it is, but on the treble side the bridge is screwed all the way down to the body and there's no more adjustment room.

Other than being scatterwound, the EVH specs (specifically the magnet and resistance) are pretty close to the Pearly Gates. However I don't recall seeing mention of the Pearly as an apt choice for those in pursuit of the EVH sound. Does the Pearly, for some reason, not lend itself to the EVH sound?

I want a cleaner, clearer sound with more highs than what I am getting now from my stock Tele style Schecter with the Duncan Designed PU's. I play a variety of music, but mostly blues and Ramp;R and usually play a stock Mex Strat. I got this guitar so I could experiment with humbuckers and had heard that the PT's sounded somewhat like a Les Paul. Unplugged, the guitar has a full sound, but is muddy when plugged in. I want the neck pickup to cover jazz if needed and transmit the character of the guitar. The bridge PU just needs to be balanced and have good treble without being peaky. I am no stranger to humbuckers and expect and want more output than the Strat provides. I play only through old Fender tube amps and use a Boss GT-3 for Verb and compression. Any suggestions?
BTW does anyone know how to ID which model PU the Duncan Designed series in my PT are modelled after?

Has anyone tried the PODxt Live? If so how good do the effects and amp models sound? Also does it sound good through an amp or just as a recording tool?

Yesterday I removed the stock Celestion Vintage 30 from my combo and put in an Eminence Legend V12 and now I know what people mean when they say such things as sounds 'sweet', 'smooth', rounder', etc. It really made a noticeable difference-more so than a tube change.

Looking for a studio quality vocal mic. What is the best one?

What would be the best pickup to use to go through a Marshall type amp? Don't wanna route the body, want it to look stock. Doesn't have to be a Duncan, just not a Dimarzio.

What's the differance between the Ibanez Edge and the Floyd Rose?

ive bin listening over and over varios samples and for a big les paul midrangy sound i think ive hit the ball park....had to be the sh11 custom.
first i thought of the dimarzio air zone, but even neil zaza chose the custom custom over that one,and in his video in which he plays his signiture cort the sounds are unbelievably FAT.

A ton of guys use these but I just got a set of these picks and I'm still amazed at how much of a difference they make in playing. They feel totally different than a normal pick. You don't even have to try and pluck the string with these things it just happens. The sharp point definately has a lot to do with this. Since their small it makes you play with only the tip so you don't get caught up in the strings.
