I thought this might be interesting. I love sitting back and thinking of all the guitars that I have owned throughout the years. This sort of reminiscing always makes me think of my very first guitar and my first decent guitar. It was sort of bittersweet for me because my first axe was an Applause by Ovation acoustic that was in horrible shape, nevertheless I banged away until I convinced my dad I was ready for a better guitar. We then bought a really nice Alvarez electric acoustic out of the local paper. I loved that guitar, but shortly after figured out I was born to rock and I needed an electric so being a die hard Jimmy Page fan (worshiper) I had to have a Les Paul. So in the summer of 1995 I saved up and bought a Les Paul Studio. It was wine red with gold hardware. I loved it and wished I still had it..... just like I wish I still had most of the 40 guitars I have had. I can't imagine some of you guys on the forum that are much older than me and some of the cool guitars you have had throughout the years seeing as I have only been at it for about 10 years.

That's my story....what's yours????

1973 Yamaha FG-200 flat top acoustic purchased new in '73. Which I still have to this day.

1st axe was a black Strat, maple fingerboard, white pickguard. I was 14. Took a belt sander to it and plastered it with decals. Man, I wrecked that guitar!!

First accoustic: takamine whatever(got it from my uncle and have no idea about model and so on but it's also a decent guitar)
First electric: some johnson LP copy ,not bad but not to my liking
fisrt decent electric: a B.C Rich NJ Warlock from 99. It's actually a great guitar with SD pups and an original floyd.

I had a late 60's Silvertone amp in case model which I traded for my first real amp which was a Fender Vibro Champ...this left me with no guitar so I borrowed one of my dad's (usally a Gibson L6-S, or if I was luck (and he wasn't playing it, a Guild S-100)), then I had a Fender Mustang which was a total toy, and a joke on top of that, then various junk guitars then I got a Yamaha SG 2000, I loved it then, I still have it and I still love it...it really is a great guitar! Just for the record, I wish I still had the Vibro Champ!

He had a 1963 Gretsch Tennessean and a 70ish Les Paul Standard. The LP was traded before I got interested in guitar.....darnit.....I just remember him playing it. Also he had one of the original Roland JC-120s. Check out the Tenny in my signature link. It's cool!!!

A Tokai Strat, Sherwood green with a maple neck, it got stolen later on, and if I ever find the bastard....I'll wrap the E string around his scrawny neck and....well you get the point, I really loved that Strat.

First axe was an ancient Stella acoustic my parents brought home one night after visiting friends. It was awful...but awful is better than nothing. The first riffs I learned were quot;Biding My Timequot; by Pink Floyd and quot;Son amp; Daughterquot; by Queen.

After a few years I bought an LP Firebrand (a.k.a quot; The Paul) from a school mate for 250 bucks and a Peavey Back Stage Pro or something like that. I still have the guitar as I wouldn't sell it for anything. It's my avatar pic at the moment.

I learned to play it by jamming to The Wall, British Steel and Black In Black.

My first quot;realquot; guitar was a '66 Gretsch Tenneseean that I bought in '79 for $300! The Stay Cats hadn't come out yet and nobody wanted Gretsches. After the Stray Cats became popular every one wanted a Gretsch. I sold it in '82 for $1000! Wish I still had it.

My firstand only guitar, a Charvel model 4, MIJ in 1988. Amazing guitar.

MIA Jackson Soloist. Finally broke down and paid the money for it. Never looked back.

my Squier Strat.

My first guitar was an '76 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, I traded that in for the '87 Designer Flying V I have now because it played horrible, at least my hands thought so. But for most people the LP Deluxe is decent to say the least so I'll let you guys decide

I had a student-sized Yamaha classical guitar first then a sweat back Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Wait...I dont have a decent axe yet. But it'll becoming soon, whatever it may be. I think i'm gonna get a peavey predator and put an OFR and SDs on it.

edit: Well i have a decent axe. I just dont like it

First acoustic: 1970's ibanez replica of gibson hummingbird, will always have it, sentimental value.
first electric: Epiphone Special II
First good: Godin LG signature.

My first guitar was a Cort Jackson Solist copy in PINK. But my first real Guitar was a Gibson Les Paul Standard 3 years later.

My first axe was and still is a Jackson 5-String Bass, my first semi-decent axe will be my Squier Strat after it's getting an aluminium pickguard, new electronics and a new set of SDs in...

My first axe was a Harmony Les Paul copy for $110 thru JC Penney's. My first real axe was an SG 62' Reissue. I think I paid $850 at the time. I was 17 or 18 years old. I worked my a$$ off cutting grass for about 5 months to afford that guitar.

I'm still on my first, Aria STG-004 it's damn good for the price. My first really decent guitar will possibly be an American Standard Strat although it might be a Burns Brian May sig or an LP copy. I'm also going to start building an axe this summer.
