i'm looking for a good amp to practice on for not too much money. anyone have any experience with this one? appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

If that's the little white vox amp you're referring to, it's more of an amp to drive another amp, like a real AC-30. I think it's a copy of something he called a deacy amp. It's not much good on it's own, soundwise. I think a vox pathfinder with Reverd and Tremelo for $119 might be better suited to a practice amp. Or consider a modelling amp like the Valvetronix line form Vox. What style of music are going to play?

The amp is ok if you like that particular tone but it is a one trick pony. It also happens to be noisy.

You may want to consider a used Tech 21 Trademark 10. I have one that I bought for $175 and I really like it. I've also heard some nice things about the Valvetronix and the price new would be about the same as the used Trademark 10.

Yeah, get a Valvetronix, Flextone XL, or Tech 21. Perfect practice amps!

I tested one hoping I could get remotely close to Brian May's tone and I was very disappointed. Never tried using it in front of another amp, but by itself, it sounded so bad I thought it was broke.
