I just bought an HH Strat and have a '59 and a Pearly Gates sitting here. What's the general feeling about which one for the neck? I'd normally use the '59 neck 'PG bridge, but the PG might be a tad bright in a Strat bridge.

anyone have a good source for pickup rings for SD pickups. i'd like gold plastic or metal humbucker rings. i've tried all parts and stew-mac and they don't fit, they are too small.

I seek a neck humbucker pickup that can create similar tones that the Duncan quarter pound produces. Any suggestions? Duncan or possibly custom.

Seems like forever since I posted about my latest guitar project, the TOC-2 (Twilight Odyssey Custom). Since then I have decided that I also wanted to replace the neck in my '79 Strat after seeing Laz Gajic's amazing Charvel San Dimas style neck. So, these are going to be the TOC-2 and the TOC-3 when all is said and done!

I'm building an SG style for a guy at work,originally it was gonna be flat black to save $$,but I asked and he was cool with me trying an idea:

i am going to build a new guitar and put lipstick tubes in it. i was told that ash can be a tad too bright with alnico 5s in it. (i think sls-1's have alnico 6's in them) i was directed to go with alder. im painting it vintage white so its not a matter of looks (wood grain). anyway, i am curious as to what you all think....
