I'm trying to learn bass.
Some guy told me to mute the all lower strings with my thumb when I play the higher strings - by pressing my thumb flat against the strings.

I've been doing this in pieces all day while on baby duty.I'm leaving out the cap only because I have no clue where to get one for now.Anybody have and good or bad experiences with this?Hopefully I'll get it finished after the littl one goes down

I have a few Gibson 57 classics laying around and I have considered making a hybrid with a C5. I am wondering if anyone happens to know the Differences in the coils between a Gibson 57 and a Duncan 59 ?

Ok the sound is not the problem. It's gorgeous... This pickup is a sleeper and totally underrated. But it IS a trembucker/F spaced and yet... Well the polepieces aren't where they should be. Has it happened to anyone, and what's the cause? What to do?

I'm looking at switching out the pickups in my Gibson Les Paul Studio. I want to get an invader for the bridge position. I know it's all about the what I like, and what sounds good to me, but does anyone have any suggestions for something that would pair well with that? I want something toned down just a llittle bit, not as insanely intense as the invader, but strong enough to keep up with it -- just a bit more subtle and nuanced.

Alright, im thinking of building a guitar, im getting all the tools i need ( especially a soldering iron) but i have never done this before. So for my first try, im thinking of getting either a les paul or a tele ' bu ild your own guitar' kit.
What do you guys think? Would that be the best way to go for a bigginer?
