I was on New Sensor's site looking at their Mullard EL34 reissues...
if any of you have tryed these yet? How are they?
Eeek. $35 a piece!

Cheap bastard. $70 for a matched pair of quality power tubes is not out of line.
I don't know if those tubes are good or not John, but I'd be interested to hear. I really did not care for the GT 12AX7-M in V1 of my Marshall, but perhaps the power tube is better.
I have not tried them yet...but I am gonna give them a shot, my Sound City has a set of NOS Mullards with very very low hours, as soon as they get here I will do a shoot out!

I have a pair in my JCM800 right now.
Compared to the Sylvania tubes I usually use ... they sound a bit muddy, and less articulate. For gigging, they're very robust and can take a beating. For recording, go vintage.
Oh, btw SD97, my shop is a retail dealer for EH tubes. If you want some, pls PM me

I still have 1 NOS set of Mullard EL34s that I'm holding onto for later years! I'm currently using Svetlana EL34s in my 50 watt Marshall and they aren't too bad...
These Sovtek/New Sensor quot;Mullardquot; clones do have me intriqued..
I've also heard great things about the EH EL34s from Trace Allen...If Trace likes them, then they'll be good tubes to try also.
I really like the EH El34 as well as their 6CA7, I use them in a few different amps. I felt the 34 really opnned up my amps and let them breath when compared to the Svets that had been in them. I don't like thick bass, or a restricted feel to an amps response and the EH do none of this. While not as robust as the Siemens in my Laney I am really impressed with the EH Power tubes. ( Not the 6l6...)

Do you find the 6CA7EH to be shrill in the highs and boomy on the bass?

They are brighter but not shrill. You may need to tweak your EQ a bit as all tubes are voiced different but these sound great in my Traynor Bassmaster MK II.

NO!
But, it is brighter than most modern EL34s .... I think of it as brilliance and air, tho, not shrill or tizzy ...
