I have a guitar that is rear routed for the single humbucker configuration. Would routing for a neck single coil be impossible since the controls are right under the volume and tone knob and there is no pickguard, just mounting rings...

Would this be possible?

Thanks!

-Will

do you have any expirience routing things like that? it sounds possible

I was going to have a tech do it...Just wondering if its doable...

I think I am gonna put a DiMarzio Pro Track in the neck...

Anyone have experience with this pickup or this routing job?

Thanks! -Will

well if its a tech then its probably doable. unless im missing something about your guitar. what kind of guitar is it?

Old, but very resonant, Strat body...Made of bubinga, quite heavy...

so is it basically just from : localhost/in layout and such? if so, than it shoud be possible. but dont take my word for it, ask the guy thats gonna do it.

No pickguard, just a rout for the bridge pickup and not for any other pickups...I will ask him...-Will

yeah thats what i meant, i mean with the controls.

Routing a single humbucker guitar for a neck pickup is eays, you should have your axe back in a relatively short period. That´s Bread and Butter-style work for most techs

yup, it takes me all of 20 minutes or so to do!!

I get very nervous about any routing that won't be covered by a pickguard. I've seen too many botched jobs, even by techs who were otherwise quite skilled. But if you've got a tech whom you trust and who feels comfortable doing the work, go for it. The best of them can make it look factory fresh.

It´s not impossible to mess up, but I often question how some manage anyway

Yeah...really??? Its a no brainer job actually!!!! The hardest part is placing the template in the correct spot!
