HUM SIZE....

I'm looking for JB characteristics with maybe a little more in your face attitude. But I still want it to sing, as I solo a fair amount with my bridge pickup.

Should match well with PAF Pro in neck.

Thanks for your responses in advance.

I think a Super Distortion would fit your requirements. I have two that match very nicely with a Paf Pro in one guitar and a PAF in another.

Tone Zone!

The Tone Zone. Quite obvious to me, especially when you asked to compare to the JB.

I would say the Tone Zone as well. WHY DOESNquot;T DIMARZIO HAVE THEIR OWN FORUM!!!

Look into the Steve's special too, it has more crunch and clarity by far. The tone zone can be muddy.

The Steve's Special is a good choice, though it is pretty scooped in my experience(which can be a good thing). The Tone Zone is fatter, but can get a little muddy sometimes. I liked them both in my old USRG Ibanez. I never decided which I liked better and switched them back and forth a few times.

I eamiled Dimarzio about 2 months ago and asked them why they didnt have a forum. They said that they would love to have one someday but dont have the staff (computer staff) to set up a forum right now (it was something along those lines, I think I deleted the email).

Dimarzio's website was totally redone this week- check it out.anyway- I vote for the Tone Zone!

You know, I never played in the mud as a child. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.

Lots of votes casted for the Tone Zone, which is great, as that was one of the pickups I was considering, but I really don't like that multiple people said that it can get muddy...

I don't think I want some of the characteristics of a ceramic mag, so I think that counts out the Steve's Special...thanks for the recommendation, anyway!

Tone Zone again. Fat, fat and fatter. However if clean is your game, I wouldn't do the TZ. If you want to back off the fat and cut it higher end X2N. The X2N will give you more quot;oomphquot; than the Super D. Megadrive if you wanna go the custom order route. The cool thing is a PAF Pro mixes well with everything.
IMO if you wanna check out Dimarzios check out the Super D and PAF Pro first. Then figure out from there what you're looking for.Likewise for Duncans the JB and the Duncan D are also the ultimate bases for evaluating what you need. Those 4 pickups are great additions to any guitar, even if it's not perfect for your main axe.You really can't go wrong with 'em. They all are the core rock n roll sounds.

DiMarzio/IBZ(aka the only one i've played )

air zone!

Air Zone is another good choice.

Try a Megadrive. Good power with a broad low end and a tight transparent high end. Lottsa Balls! Very modern sounding. Not a shrill edge on it. Although with a swamp ash body its a little dark.

Snowdog

Look at the tone chart on Dimarzio's site for the tone zone and you'll see why it can be seen as a bit muddy.

I also say the Tone Zone. although it is a little muddy on the clean channel, on high gain is where this pup excels. it is a really good shred pickup... the notes ring clearly and does not run together, especially when tapping. very punchy and also very chunky on rhythm. very tight and aggressive. it has a top end sizzle that i love. the harmonics are very good, it has an quot;airyquot; vibe to it. it matches very well with the PAF Pro...a combination favored by Paul Gilbert. compared to the JB, it has more chunk, more muscle, more crunch, and less harmonics. the TZ and the JB are my two most favourite bridge pups by far.

Super Distortion
I used a Tone Zone in my Strat for a couple of years and I play alot of clean and distorted stuff. I've never thought it sounded muddy and actually prefered it's tone over the JB I had in my Tele at the time.
