How can I tell the difference between alder and ash. I currently have 2 guitars with a see through finish. 1 definatley has an ash body and features a lovely grain, the other I'm not sure about. The grain isn't as pronounced, and the acoustic sounds ofeach are different. 1 is a Gamp;L (ash body) and the other is a US Strat plus. I thought it might be alder, but am really not sure. Help me please!!

Jeez, is anything modern, er, good...wahs
Here in this part of the world we don't have Super-wide product ranges, brands and choices. Only the really big, or privately imported arrive. I will see an artist endorsed item and think quot;well if it's good enough for that super-star, then it must be good for mequot; I will sometimes buy it based on that. sucker Also it a big risk buying some unbacked exotic online.

Washburn X50
What a deal guys! The Floyd version is just a wee bit more and has a Schaller.
from : localhost/anyone ever played one? Are they as good as on paper? Their idols series seem to be very popular and they're cheap too.

Carl Martin Plexitone questions.
I know that our own Mr. Rid helped design this pedal and that he has some clips of it in Tips and Clips. For some reason I can't seem to connect to the sites to give a listen. Does anybody here have one and if so what could you tell me about it. Is it more of an OD or more of a distortion? Any and all info would be helpful. Thanks.

Garrison Guitars
Anyone know anything about them? Acoustic Guitar World gave their Ag-400 and amazing review and some of their higher up guitars look even better. What's the deal with the bracing though? It seems they have something funky with their style of bracing.

Which Antiquity singles have the same polarity/wind as regular models?
I know either the Ant I's or II's are opposite the regular line, but can't remember which.

Compare and contrast 6L6s and EL34s......
..............in amps that are capable of running both with a flip of a switch such as Mesas. I am curious about the distinct characteristics and tone generalizations that can be made of both. I am most interested in what is said about 34s since I have traditionally been a 6L6 Fender lover.

Old Gibson history/info help with pics.
The only markings I could find where stamped on the inside back (L-40). You can see the stamp mark looking inside the top sound hole. I do know it is four generations old and that is all the info I have.

Where should my new Boss Super Shifter go?
I just got my new Boss super shifter, and I'm not sure where I should put in my pedal chain. Right now it's this: Boss tuner --gt; Dunlop wah --gt; Guyatone compressor --gt; Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive --gt; Boss GE7 equalizer. I would assume that it should only go in 1 of 2 places. Either before the E.Q. or after the E.Q. Can anybody shed some light on this?

New Toy! Gamp;L!
Last week I won my first ebay auction. I was shooting for this gorgeous flame maple cherry burst Gamp;L Legacy, but it got too pricey for me. Instead, I found a Fullerton red one listed for cheap. It just happened to be one town over from me too! I sniped it with 2 minutes left and won a 2004 Gamp;L Legacy for $550 and change.

Gettin my Mesa retubed... finally..... =)
After months of not being able to afford it, I finally took my Mesa into the shop to get it retubed. The last few times I've plugged into it I could hear a pretty significant decrease in the quality of tone that was commin out of it. Well now its in the shop and I'm anxiously waiting for its return. The never ending curiousity of how sweet it will sound when I get it back is killin me!!!

Wow... What are they using at the start of Super beast?
This is the most gain i've ever heard in my life, it sounds like the speakers have lightning bolts shooting out of them, and the amp takes a large power plant to run it.You know, rob zombie, superbeast.I'd just like to know for the hell of it. I know their guitarist uses a full shredd.

strat gurus...body question...
ok, i just bought a strat body in pewter off ebay which was listed as a MIM body...i also paid a very low MIM price for it...but after looking at pics of it again and pics of other MIM bodies...i think i got a USA made body at a MIM price and the seller didn't know it. ok, first off the body is pewter and to my knowledge fender never made a pewter MIM strat asside from the powerhouse and this is not a powerhouse body obviously. also the screw spacing for the vintage trem he listed as 2-3/32 from center of the first screw to the center of the last...if i'm not mistaken MIM vintage trem bodies have a 2-1/8 mounting hole spacing. next up is the routing, this is routed H-S-H when all the MIM bodies i have seen are routed not quite HUM size in the neck-S-H. this also has only one extra routing hole below the main route when MIM bodies have 3 holes there. next up is the grounding screw inside the bridge pickup area...i've only seen this on USA made bodies, never a MIM. also it has a green circle sticker in the route which i have only seen on US bodies not MIM. finally it is stamped with a full date (sept 07 XXXX) in the neck pocket not just a serial number like the MIM bodies i have seen. am i correct in thinking this is a US made body or is it some sort of MIM reissue? either way i don't mind since i paid a MIM price for it and was happy to buy it! here it is, let me know what you guys think it is and what model strat it could have come from...
