How can I tell the difference between alder and ash. I currently have 2 guitars with a see through finish. 1 definatley has an ash body and features a lovely grain, the other I'm not sure about. The grain isn't as pronounced, and the acoustic sounds ofeach are different. 1 is a Gamp;L (ash body) and the other is a US Strat plus. I thought it might be alder, but am really not sure. Help me please!!
pics?
I thought Fender used ash for the clear finish on those models

Bump
top one is definitely ash, the bottom one is so dark I can´t make anything out....
The top one is defintitely ash. The amber one looks like it's probably ash.
I'm pretty certain the bottom 1 (Gamp;L) is ash. Wasn't as sure about the top 1 (Fender). Cheers guys.
The second pic is so dark it's hard to tell anything about the grain... wanna take another pic?
