A buddy of mine is going to grab a silverface 68 bassman from the same guy that i bought my blonde bandmaster from and make a 1x15 cab for it.

What wood? Birch? Pine? He's probably going with a Weber Michigan 15 inch Electrovoice replica. It will need to hold up to loudness.

Finally, what joint style should we use on the corners? Finger jointing with a router? Just plain glue?

Use 3/4quot; dressed both sides Birch. Many companies use a mortise join,I like to do tenon joins for cabs.

Hey John, I'm curious about why quot;dressed both sidesquot;. Is there a structural reason for that? I'd just assumed that the inside didn't matter, and the outside would be covered.

Just curious, because I'm working on one myself.

I just put the top plates on top of the side plates, and it works well..... glue and screws!

go all out and do a dovetail joint lol...
my dad does woodworking as a hobby and i keep trying to talk him into making me and exotic wood speaker cab with some fancy dovetail joints. wanna talk about a strong joint, that sucker won't pull appart no matter what speaker you stick in there! however it's a bit..uhhh...XSSIVE...for what you need

It's really about the finished product.
Undressed ply is construction grade, dressed one side is finish grade and both sides is often used in indutrisl cabinet making.
By using dressed both sides you start your covering with a smoother surface.

It's going to be an inexpensive type route of doing things, so we're probably going to wing the tolex and just paint the cab.

Any comments on the speaker?
