I played one today. Love the neck.

Buy it!!

was there much flame on the neck? some of the picture i have seen look like there is other pics look like ther isn't

pretty nicely figured neck, nothing over the top, just nice, vintage look, v to c as you go up the neck. and I usually don't give a rat's rear end for Strats.

Yeah, looks like a nice one definetely, he definetely got it right when he figured out how he wanted it made. Im liking too many guitars lately! 335s, Bass VIs... and no money!

I have played a couple and thought they were both pretty nice... Aren't they around $1600 or so? I can't remember how much they wanted. I played one on a Saturday and was thinking of buying it Sunday, I went back it had sold late Sat or I might even own one now

Wildwood, $1500. They're so hot right now that I'd be shocked if you could work anyone down for less.

Or, wait 9 months and buy a used one for $1000.

it kinda looks like any normal run of the mill strat with just a few small differences.

do you have to rip on every strat thread?

I normally shy away from signature models, but that one is damn tempting, only because the features basically correct every problem I've ever had with vintage strats. The guitar itself is a tone monster, but I've never gotten along with the radius and frets, not to mention the slim V profile. The Eric Johnson strat is like a dream 57 strat, built to better specs. I want one, but I'm happy with my strats, so I'm going to wait till I can swipe a used one for cheap in a a year or 3.

i own one, it just semms that fender just resells the same guitar with minute differences over and over- i'd think someone like Eric Johnson could come up with something a bit cooler.

I just wish they made the exact same guitar with a rosewood fretboard. I don't know why they didn't. Eric has never been a revolutionary, when it comes to gear. His changes to the 57 strat almost seem radical too me, knowing what a traditionalist he is.
I'm surprised he opted for a 12quot; radius fretboard.

Scott are u gonna convert to the Strat camp ?

That's a killer shape. That's what I went with for my strat's neck from USACG and love the profile. Not quite as much as the Wolfgang/SRV assymetrical shape, but it's up there.

fender should just put SD's in all of their high end guitars....

Dunno about that, I have tried quite a few Customshop ones with Abigails singles....would defently not replace them with anything, they sound as good as anything else in that end of the scale.

Eric is pretty tone-anal and vintage oriented, so it makes sense that he'd go for basically a nicely made vintage strat with well selected woods and a few tweaks.

Now it'd be strange if Adrian Belew did a signature model and it was like Eric's...

Looks to be a pretty nice, friggin' strat.
