I just got my new Boss super shifter, and I'm not sure where I should put in my pedal chain. Right now it's this: Boss tuner --gt; Dunlop wah --gt; Guyatone compressor --gt; Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive --gt; Boss GE7 equalizer. I would assume that it should only go in 1 of 2 places. Either before the E.Q. or after the E.Q. Can anybody shed some light on this?
After the EQ. Check here for some other guidelines:
from : localhost/course, always experiment to find what suits your tastes and needs.
nooooooooooooo!
NEVER put a pitchshifter after the distortion box! especially if you're pitching upwards! distortion is far too unpredictable.. if you want cool harmonising effects, put it in between the tuner and the wah IMO..

ive done both... after distortion sometimes it can get messed up when harmonizing. if you use the detune setting after distortion its gets a really cool chorusy effect. before distortion the harmonizer works better. just experiment and place it where you like.

Have you experimented with your EQ placement much? I always put mine before the distortion/overdrive stages. This way you can shape the mids, which defines the characteristics of your overdriven sounds. Obviously this isn't the only way to do it, there are 'rules' as such. I just thought I'd mentioned it in case you hadn't considered this before.
I've have to agree with Imp on this one, I'm all for experimenting but pitch shifters AFTER distortion? Avoid.

personally i thought the pitchshifter, detune, trem, and wobble effect sounded better after the distortions. the harmonizer worked a better before.
Robert Keeley suggests placing pitch shifters after distortion/overdrive because quot;many distortion pedals can't handle the many pitches at one time.quot; Has others' experience been different?
I have to cry ignorance on this since I don't own any pitch-shifting effects.

Where should my new Boss Super Shifter go?
To me. want my address?
i still say before distortion. if you think of some of the frequencies that come out of a big muff (especially with the tone control turned up), then the 2 octave up applied to that... it'd sound really bad, IMO!
i can see it working with a harmonizer though.. i'm just thinking about extreme effecting here.. experiment!
tom
effects loop?
