I've got a Road King combo, it doesn't have a quot;recording outquot; or anything, is there anyway to send an output into an external device (say, a dirct box then my computer ) but be basically silent? I'm looking for a way to play along with drum tracks, record, etc. late at night with headphones on.

I need some help..
Has anyone here made hybrid pickups? like taking a coil from one humbucker and another coil from a different pickups like the 59/custom hybrid? If so how do you take apart a pickup safely and then connect 2 different coils to each other?

Is the THD Univalve as versatile as it appears?
Really been thinking about a new amp. Although I don't want a head/cab setup, I really am hot after the Univalve. The design is innovative and the soundclips are fun, but can this be the one amp that has everything you need?

Holy Crap, it's a Les Paul! [PICS!]
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, I present to you my only slightly used 2000 Gibson Les Paul Studio:
Neither of these two photos really brings out the wood grain you can see through the transparent green finish, which is a shame, because it's really beautiful. I've never really seen a transparent green lp before, so when I saw it on the wall it immediately grabbed my attention.

Strat/Tele Pickup Engineering Question
Instead of a metal base plate...what if a strat bridge pickup had a metal cover/ dome under the base plate... or a box. If the base plate had a sides/walls that extended up towards the bottom of the pickguard. Of course, in this case the base plate would have to be able to travel freely within the walls of the pickup base box.

Active / passive switch
I have installed the preamp only from the Basslines STC-2p circuit into a Fender Marcus Miller 4 string bass. I have left the original active/passive switch in, but when I switch from passive to active, I get a loud POP sound when the preamp is engaged. What can I do to eliminate this sound? Any suggestions?

High School graduation today....
Well, I graduate today. It's kind of exciting and kind of depressing at the same time. I know I'm never going to see some of these people again and it saddens me. But i was just curious, who else is graduating this year? What are your plans for college? Is music going to be your goal or not? I'm going to UNH and will reapply for their music program for the next year, I unfortunately did not get in the first time. However, I know I'm going to face many disapointments if I chose music as a career and I just gotaa roll with the punches. So, how about anyone else? Anyone going to UNH by some slim chance?

Distortion PUP Discussion...not a Which pup do I need thread
One thing I've noticed is that alot of folks don't like high output buckers. I've held that opinion before too. However after playing some high gain pups recently I've come to the conclusion that they really are not as bad as people make them out to be..*if they are approached correctly*

THD Hot Plate / Marshall Power Brake
Anyone tried out any of these? I've read that the THD is the better one, but would like to hear from users instead of magazine reviews.

Need Help On My Decision!!!!!!
Hey eveyrone hear out my situation and gimme your best opinions cuz you guys rock!I been plannin on adding a used PRS ( pre 95) 24 fret to my arsenal around christmas time, spending about 1000-1300 after saving for a few months. Recently i came across this unfinished copy of a McCarty. This guy was building the guitar for himself but could not finish due to monetary reasons. I have had experience building guitars ( i have built three, each better than the previous), and all i would have to do to this guitar is have a nice Tune o Matic bridge installed, then put my own hardware and paint it. It would be a great hobby for me, and i would save a couple hundred bucks and be able to customize the **** out of this potential bad boy.Thing is, i have owned PRS's before and wanted to get one again... and i know i prolly cannot make a guitar that is quite like a PRS... The other thing is that the wood combo on the builder guitar is just like a McCarty: Mahagony on Maple... ( i already have one like that). The PRS i planned on finding was going to be Alder/Maple....

Line 6 Spider II 212 gt; Marshall AVT150
I got a line 6 spider II 212 with the line 6 shortboard for the same price as the AVT150 on special. It totalled $1500 AUD all up with a pair of schaller strap locks, im not sure how much that is in USD, but im assuming i got a good price considering the short board alone retailed at $700 AUD. The spider II 212 was much more articulate for legato and speed playing and seemed smoother than the 'valve' pre-amp in the marshall. I was sold almost immediately, the range of tones is extremely impressive.

I give up on gain pedals.....(mini-rant)
I give up on gain pedals. Boosters, overdrives, distortions....everytime I try one I really like it at first, then I figure out how to make my amp sound more or less the same without it. After awhile I find I start to prefer the amps natural version of that tone to the pedal amp version, and it eventually degrades to the point where I really can't stand hearing the pedal anymore. I can still apreciate how quot;goodquot; it sounds, but my ears just don't like listening to it.

do i need volume and tone knobs?
I just bought a new pickup for my blink 182 stratocaster. Do you know why I even need the volume knob? I want it even simpler!

Schenker's bridge pickup
What does Schenker use for a bridge pickup? Is it a 59 or a custom custom? Or something else?
