I found a Gibson Les Paul Pro ( black ) with P90s, from 1978. It is in excellent condition. The seller is asking $1600 for it, and I countered asking to include shipping and tax in that amount. My kinda questionable buyer's guide says $1600 is the top end for an excellent specimen. I got GAS really bad. Aside from the inevitable TUMS comments, can anyone add anything positive ?

Calling electronics gurus!
I've been playing around with the idea of having in-built guitar effects for my Squier, just fr fun. While browsing around the internet, I stumbled across these: from : localhost/ and from : localhost/do you think, could those be put on the some pcboard, with a switch changing the caps and adding/bypassing the extra parts? Could it work inside a guitar? Grounding issues? I thought about wrapping the pcboard into tape or something, insulating it and shielding the entire inside cavity of the geetar with aluminum foil. Any other ideas?

F.S.
For sale : Brian Moore C90P (Custom Shop). Condition- excellent. No dents, dings, or belt-buckle rash. Frets- also excellent, very little wear. No cracks, or other structural defects with this. The back trem cover had a hairline crack in it from the factory; but it's been glued and painted with black epoxy paint (textured). The only real area of concern is the gold hardware ala the pickup bezels. There's some clouding going on, but no flaking, or chipping. Color- turquoise top, with a green back. The pics may show a quot;blue-erquot; shade on the top, but it is more topaz-colored, than blue. Non- matching headstock. The neck has some birdseye in it, but it's not obnoxious. This model has piezo's in the bridge. There's a JB in the bridge, an APS-2 in the middle, and an Alnico-2 in the neck. Wilkinson trem, with a graphite nut. Sperzel tuners. Comes with OHSC (w/ key), cable for piezo's, truss rod hex key, and literature folder from BM. Price- $1750. Terms- Postal Money order. I'll pay to ship this to you, provided you live in the lower 48 United States. Check out their site for more specs on this model. Thank you for your interest.

Good second humbucker for Fat strat
I have a fender fat strat with a tex-mex humbucker in the bridge position. I am considering replacing the neck pickup with a second humbucker. after listening to the “Tone Wizard” I like the Cool Rails. Does anyone have any experience with this combination. I play various types of music from 60's classic to hard rock and bluesy stuff too. I find that now I never use the neck pickup. I also want to get tone control of the bridge humbucker and all the wiring diagrams for HSH I see give me that. This would be my first experience with a pickup change so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Question after having a tech install a pickup
The pickup works fine but I noticed that he just clipped one of the old cables from the volume pot so there's like a half an inch of old cable just sticking out from the volume pot not connected to anything. Also, the quot;barequot; wire is a lot longer than it was on the older pickup, leaving much of it exposed. My quesion is, should I cleanup the old cable sticking out from the volume pot and also do something about the highly exposed bare wire and if not, is this effecting the performance of the pickup at all? Thanks

What's the difference between strings/brands
I've just taken a set of my trusty old Ernie Ball .10's off my Tele and stuck a set of D'addario .10's on for a change. My first impressions are that they seem very light in comparision, almost like Ernie Ball .09's, which got me thinking -

Why do people often confuse splitting and tapping?
For instance on the Gibson website, they use tapping instead of splitting on their description. Many people say coil tap instead of split when they talk about disabling a humbucker's coil. Both have similar effects in that they diminish output, but aren't they different processes, working on different types of pickups?

DIY Pedals Recommendations
OK, I have planned to get into some DIY pedal projects. I'm going to build a Dallas Rangemaster and a headphone amplifier. While I'm ordering parts I want to really make the order worthwhile and get enough stuff for some other projects. I have a DS-1, and I plan to mod it.
