how can you identify the magnets amd impedence of pickups, without info from the manufacturer? ive got a pair of mmk45s from the Aria company (matsumoko) and i'm interested in finding out about them. they do sound good and i'm curious to find out what makes them tick

I am starting to lean toward the idea that only bad or very low quality pickups need replacement such as budget guitars, imports, etc.

I posted the very early instrumental drum machine demo of this tune about 4 months ago. This is the completed songwriting demo. Very minimalist approach (for me) - one guitar left, one guitar right, bass, 3 drum mics, and one vocal track. All the solos are placeholders to flesh out the demo.

I want to buy a black telecaster and would love to put in some red SD's in it. Has anyone else done something similar? I know it says in the pickup guide it says you can buy colored pickups for no additional charge but i have never seen any pickups in any color besides black or white. My question is how could I get some red pickups and who else has done something like this?

I pulled the nickel cover off of my Seth Lover and it has a zebra color scheme.. which matches my 59n.. so stoked

I just put some new pickups (duncans, mind you) in my Flying V and I have no use for the pickups that were in it.

In my continuing self debate for replacement single coils in my Strat, one thing that I need to know is if there is a max neck radius recommendation for staggered pole pickups? My Strat is a 1994 American Standard with a 9.5quot; radius fretboard. Would I be OK using staggered poles or should I stick with flat poles like what came stock?

i have a MIM strat and with a hot rails in the bridge and stock pups in neck and middle. i dont really like the hotrails and was wondering how a set of fat 50's would sound in my strat. i play mostly classic rock, southern rock, and blues. thanks

I've currently got a H/S/S guitar with a SH-1 in the bridge and two SSL-1 single coils. Five way switch (with position 4 being split humbucker middle single coil), one volume and one tone. The problem is that the highs are rolled off quite a bit if you turn down the volume pot, which is the way I like to go to clean tones since I'm using a single channel amp. My LP with Mastertone active pickups and 250K (yes, these can use 250K pots) DiMarzio pots doesn't do this much at all. So I'm thinking maybe the pots are the wrong resistance or just crappy ones?

Here's what I was thinking, I'm rewiring a guitar. It's got a Distortion in the bridge, Cool Rails in the middle, and Hot Rails in the neck. I was going to wire it up with a 5-way superswitch and 3 individual volume knobs. I wanted the Cool Rails split by itself in the 4th position, full humbucking in the 3rd position. I wanted the Hot Rails split by itself in the 2nd position and full humbucking in the 1st position. The Distortion would be full humbucking n the 5th position. No pickup combinations, just full humbucking or split coil. What I was thinking was this:
