Here's what I was thinking, I'm rewiring a guitar. It's got a Distortion in the bridge, Cool Rails in the middle, and Hot Rails in the neck. I was going to wire it up with a 5-way superswitch and 3 individual volume knobs. I wanted the Cool Rails split by itself in the 4th position, full humbucking in the 3rd position. I wanted the Hot Rails split by itself in the 2nd position and full humbucking in the 1st position. The Distortion would be full humbucking n the 5th position. No pickup combinations, just full humbucking or split coil. What I was thinking was this:

Output jack wired Hot to switch.
Distortion black wired to the 5th position on the switch.
Cool Rails red and white wired to the 4th position on the switch.
Cool Rails black wired to the 3rd position on the switch.
Hot Rails red and white wired to the 2nd position on the switch.
Hot Rails black wired to the 1st position on the switch.

The bridge volume knob would be wired to the 5th position terminal on the other side of the switch.
The middle volume knob would be wired to the 4th and 3rd position terminals on the other side of the switch.
The neck volume knob would be wired to the 2nd and 1st position terminals on the other side of the switch.

Everything grounded.

Does this sound even remotely correct? Is there another easier way to do it? Would I be better off getting 3 push/pull volume pots and wiring the pickups to the pots and the pots to the switch?

Thanks to anyone who can decipher my post.

This sounds feasable. Let me see what I can quot;doodle upquot;.

Gimme a sec . . .

I just threw this together real quick, but I think you can figure out whats what. Let me know, if you have any questions.

Artie
