why does nobody make these anymore?

theyre not common though - boss have dropped any from their range, and mxr dont make a straightforward parametric EQ that i know of

They're not that popular. The only people who really seem to use them are a handful of metal guys....

The problem with a parametric EQ is simply that most people don't understand what it is. quot;Audiophilequot; folks tend to shirk anything extra in the audio path, and the quot;lights-bells-whistlesquot; crowd goes for all the pretty sliders of the graphic EQ - which leaves the poor PEQ out in the cold. Even the guitar crowd tends to like the sliders.

Its a great tool, if understood and properly used. I have one, (albiet, digital/electronic), in my guitar path at all times.

I think it is the unsung hero of gear. Only fools don't use peq's.

Yeh - they're great because if theres some feedback in your signal, you can just move the dial around until it cuts it out. They're not as straightforward as graphics but you can get much better results from them if you understand EQ properly.
