well this is flattering as all hell but unless i described the pup to have the exact things you need in your tone i hope i did not make anyone but a duncan that did not work out for them?
if the pup worked like a charm for you then great then thats why i am here

I don't think there is a bad duncan pup, just a variety of wicked pups.

Its kind of like getting a new car. The first thing you do is switch out the exhaust for a sweet sounding Flowmaster, get some 20's, etc.........

Well, it's a great concept. I mean to say thatyou can ask LOADS of different people what their opinions are, and for every one that tells you one thing, there will be another who says something else. The Idea is to get the majority that seems to suit your tastes best.

I can only imagine the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent after witnessing the unabashed Gear Ho'siery.
You'd be surprised how much influence you guys do have. When you are totally clueless about pups, you will listen to those who have the knowledge. This is because, to be fair, listening to clips on a website is never good enough to make your mind up about anything. If you drop a JB in a Les Paul, there's no way it's gonna sound like the clips on this website.

Big thanks to those who showed me the way back when I was of limited knowledge

Did you ever get THAT right.

Clips are meaningless to me because it's a different guitar, different amp, and most of all a different player with a totally different pick and playing technique, and more than likely different guage strings. Then you've got it filtered through you computer and your computer's speakers, etc., etc. (Did I miss anything?)

Therefore, if it's a pickup I don't know about, I much prefer verbal descriptions where the player describes how this pickup sounds RELATIVE to a pickup that I do know about. That relativity is the constant, and a pretty reliable one at that.

In other words, as an extreme example, if I'd never tried a JB but had plenty of experience with an Invader, an experienced player who had played both would be able to tell me that the JB sounds brighter and clearer with less bass and output than the Invader, regardless of how different his gear and playing technique are from mine -- whereas because of those other factors, I might not be able to tell just from a soundclip of the JB how it differs from the Invader.
