There is no significant improvement in Excel during about last 10 years.
For example curve fitting is only in graph window. It would be useful to
have similar functions available in cells. Why are they not implemented? It
would make Excel much more useful. Ofcourse it can be overcome by matrix
operations, but it is complicated.
For example following function would be wellcome:
polycurvefit(3 degree, parameter 2, rangecellsx amp; y) or
logcurvefit (parameter_no, rangexamp;y....)

Read up on LINEST, LOGEST, TREND and GROWTH functions, and consider
searching Google Groups in the Excel newsgroups for the term 'curve
fitting'.
