i have a row of 12 cells. each numeric value in the cells is totaled in
the 13th cell. I want to create a formula that will look at each cell
and not add the cells with the 3 lowest numerical values to the total
in the 13 cell in that row.--

Try this: using range A1:L1 for your 12 values

=SUM(A1:L1)-SUM(SMALL(A1:L1,{1,2,3}))--

Does that mean you're getting the wrong answer or the formula is
producing an error?
What values and cells are you using?
What result did you get?
