Strat middle pickup...
Possibly the most disliked pickup on a Strat? It gets those great notch tones, but on its own, nobody loves it. So what would you do to the tone of a Strat middle pickup that would make it usuable, on its own?

Well this bites
Putting all of the Strats back to true single coil pups. This means one of them gets the stock pups back. Wired it all up nice and clean and damn it if the middle pup is pretty much dead. It worked enough to pass the screwdriver test before closing her up but almost no output at all while playing it. Shame too cause with the shielding the other pups actually sounded good.

Orange amps and Blues Saraceno?
I've heard the Orange amps clips from blues saraceno site and it has an amazing tone, what model did he play there? I assume it's the AD30 the AC30 copy? If so, what amp would be good for that sound, but not with the Orange price tag? A Laney perheps?

Help shielding a les paul?
Hello got a new Edwards les paul that has 500k pots JB bridge/ 59 neck. The guitar is buzzing real bad and I know it has to do with shielding (only happens when not touching strings or metal part on guitar). I put copper shielding tape throught the cavity mounted the pots over it. Now I am only able to get the neck pickup only to work, the bridge is not working? I removed all the shielding and tried again now it is working. I'm confused. I know I had everything hooked up right with the shielding tape in. My only conclusion is it is grounding off on something?
any suggestions? The way the cavity is cut it is really hard to get copper shielding tape placed flat and properly. So I have ordered some shielding paint from Stew mac to try.

bridge pup has neck spacing !
i bought a new sd custom 5 bridge pup and it is neck spaced. 2 years ago i bought a custom custom bridge and it sat for a month before i installed and noticed this obvious problem. i am either returning the junk to internet dealer or dealing direct w/sd. why can't sd pup a bridge pup in a bridge pup box ? my les pauls will get proper bridge spacing for the bridge pup! anyone else out there with sore rectum over this ?

I am starting to GAS for a Rickenbacker.......
I want to go way out there and try something I have never had before and that would be a Ric. I want to get out and play one somewhere soon, but in the meantime what do you guys think of them. I love the ones I have heard in the past with the nice clean and jangly sound, but I wander if it will be ok for some of the other bluesy classic rock stuff I play. Also I keep hearing that they are more of a rythmn guitar. Is that true? I am not a shredder or even a marvelous riffer by any means, but I will do some runs up and down the neck every so often and I would be scared that a Ric might be a little stiff. Anyone....

played a couple lesters today...
so i took a journey to my local CG today to check out some of the les pauls i've had my eye on. i've been looking at the studio model, but was a little disappointed when i picked one up. just as pretty much any guitar in GC goes, the setup was poor and it seemed to just be lacking something. it sounded good, but it didn't have the feel i was expecting. so i picked up another one of the same model, and while it was a little better, it was still the same. i couldn't get it to stay in tune, and i just wasn't feeling it.
but one of the workers there insisted i try the the quot;worn mahoganyquot; studio model ( i believe that's what it was called), and that one completely hit home. the neck had a really nice feel to it since it isn't finished, just a few coats of nitro over bare mahogany. the setup actually wasn't bad either, all things considered. had a real cool look to it too, and the price tag had a good look to it as well, at $899.

What the correct way to Scallop Neck?
I've been working on this neck I got at a Pawn shop, and I decided to Scallop the thing. I did a fret job already, my first and it wasn't to bad, but now I've been sanding on this for weeks and it seems that the levelness that the frets did have, is exactly that. Did Have! So what do I do now? It was sweet before I started the Scallop. What he hell Happened? I appreciate any advice Thanks

Body wood amp; neck wood?
I'm thinking of buying a new body and neck from Warmoth to replace the cheap Ibanez body and neck i have at the moment, its going to be HSH configuration and i'm going to be using all the existing hardware from the Ibby. Grover locking tuners, OFR, Distortion N amp; B pups and the Alnico II pro single etc.
What do you think would be a good body wood and neck wood (amp; fingerboard) to match the pickups. I already have an Ash strat with quilted maple top, maple neck with ebony fretboard and really like the sound of that. But i don't know if i want more of the same or to try something different.

Eye of the Beholder
Hey guys, I covered eye of the beholder. I programmed the drums and bass and played the guitar parts. If the guitar doesn't match up the timing with the drums, its because of my mismatching of the two parts. I could fix it or just take out the drums and there wont be any problems. Heres the link, enjoy:
