Who really uses them? does anyone know which popular artists use the DD?

Me .

Terry Corso from Papa Roach uses one, even though I dislike the band.

One of Mastodons guitarists uses a DD/DD set.

That's all I can think of, although I love the pickup.

I thought that guy was in that lame band Alien Ant Farm.

Maybe that was him, but they both use DD's, Papa Roach and AAA.

Ah...you're right. Jerry Horton is in Papa Roach, Terry Corso is in AAA.

any REAL metal players? hhhmmmm... Static-X uses it, but i hardly consider them quot;Metalquot; :P

I have heard that Jimmy Page used them at one point, I have also heard that Adam Jones is swapping his JB's for DD's, Wes Borland is using them now, it has been said that Kirk Hamett is now using a DD set in one or two guitars.

History lesson, George Lynch of DOKKEN back in the late 80s amp; 90s.

I use one, and its one of my favorites. To me, the cleans are killer, but it does grunge real nice too. I'm trying to decide what to put in the bridge to go with it. Another Distortion might do the trick.

DD/DD would be a hot setup.

Matt Chase for one.

Randy Rhodes

Ah yes, Randy used the DD/Jazz set. Grat choice, but he got some horrid tone with it, I must say.

how can you compare the DD to the EMG 81?

because, i love the rhythm and the harmonics that i get from the EMG... ala-Killswitch Engage. but actives have that blanket-over-your-guitar tone that i dislike. its not as upfront as passives. im thinking of switching to duncans. i already had that 80's dimarzio phase before trying EMG. both of them didnt really impress me. now im looking at the DD but a little hesitant... hmmmmmm.

These guys/gals:

Plus me. It is my unofficial signature pickup.

And yes, dual Distortions is a hot set up. You can't beat it for an all out rock/metal assault. It's actually a more verstaile combo than people realize.

hey deadskinslayer... im interested in buying your guitar (jackson)... can you send me some info?

A DD resides in the bridge of one of my Strats. Killer Tone.

Pmed you back .

I'd compare the DD to the 81 in a way...The DD is more aggressive, and has more bite. It doesn't have the 'blanket-over-speaker' sound you're describing, it's actually very open, as well as articulate. I'd even go as far to say it's as tight, or tighter then the 81.

Zakk Wylde uses them in any of his V-shaped guitars in honor of Rhandy Rhoads. He uses them live!

Kirk and James (MET) used Distortions and Invaders before they went active.

Here is my review of the DD bridge...
