I'm in the middle of wiring up an s/s/s stratocaster. It has the three wires, one white two black and three connections to the jack. My question is...I've got the white wire soldered to the right place, the piece that touches the long thingy, lol.
Now, the two black wires. If I touch either one to either of the other connectors, I get sound. I obviously have to solder them both on, does it matter which goes to which? Got sound touching both at once to the different posts just to see if it would spark or something. Don't want to fry myself when I plug into an ac powered amp as I'm using a battery powered pignose at the moment.
Can ya help a brotha out?
P.S. I melded two strats together to make this one and I strung it up already so I was hoping not to pull the pickguard.
If you have stock pickups, then the black wires from the pickups are supposed to be grounded. My question is what are the black wires connected to on the other end? If they come from the pickups, then you can solder them to the back of a pot or do the star grounding. If they are from somewhere else, then we have to figure out where they are supposed to go.
