well today really was a good friday. I had today off so I went to Guitar Center to check out some Les Pauls.... but noticed a PRS McCarty with a rosewood neck(indian).. and fell in love.... and got a good deal. I traded in my PRS hollowbody spruce top even up for it. Nothin quite like rosewood. Here are a few pics.. it is actually darker than it appears in the pics

VERY Pretty!...Congrats!

My next PRS will def be a McCarty. I handled my first one a few days back, and def they are nicer (IMO) than the 22/24's I've owned or played (and thats not a slight cos the 22/24's RAWK!)

very nice guitar, but i would have liked the hollow boddied one too

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that a retailer did a straight trade.

McCartyburst is a great finish! Sometimes, I think I like the crescent moon necks better than birds, too.......more utility, and less flashy. And, unlike most Gibsons, you don't have to chuck the pickups in a junk drawer. One of these days, I want to see what my spare McCarty pickups sound like in a Les Paul, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Nice guitar!

how do you intonate a PRS????

Nice guitar!

That's because a used Hollowbody is worth more than a new IRW McCarty on the used market.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, that plays as nicely as a rosewood neck. Had mine been a bit larger, ala a late 50's Lester, I'd have never sold it. The PRS wife-fat neck is not fat enough for me.

i restrung it with 11's and it was already perfect ( they had 9s on it and it was off).. but all you do is get the high and low E's intonated and the rest fall in place.. i play basically all standard tuning down a half so ive never had a problem with the PRS wraparound

as for them doing a straight up trade.. i was surprised by them doing it too.. i was actually willing to pay some on it ( i didnt tell them that) .... but the dude made some calls and talked to the store manager and we got it done. It was my first buying/trading a guitar at Guitar Center and i am very pleased with it.

I can't tell about the hollow body, but I tried a PRS McCarty this morning and it was a real pleasure. It was the first time I played splitable humbuckers and it opens new fields that I never explored with my Paul. This is not anytime soon, but my next Guitar will be a PRS. I just need to try other models from them but the McCarty feels like a winner.

By the way, very nice beast the one you get.
