I'm thinking of buying a new body and neck from Warmoth to replace the cheap Ibanez body and neck i have at the moment, its going to be HSH configuration and i'm going to be using all the existing hardware from the Ibby. Grover locking tuners, OFR, Distortion N amp; B pups and the Alnico II pro single etc.
What do you think would be a good body wood and neck wood (amp; fingerboard) to match the pickups. I already have an Ash strat with quilted maple top, maple neck with ebony fretboard and really like the sound of that. But i don't know if i want more of the same or to try something different.
Thoughts...
i don't know the ibanez want to mod, but mind that
they sometimes use really good tonewoods for their guitars.
i wouldn't do it, you may not reach improvement and regret it.
rather build a complete guitar - it's approx only one third more the money
Do you know, you have a very good point actually. I think its just that i wanted some different features, so i really might as well keep it and custom build a new one. Coz it really is a good guitar, and hasn't let me down in 5 years of playing.
I agree with Baltar, build a new guitar, its a lot funner. If your going to build a new guitar though, make sure you do a natrual finish and get a nice piece of wood for the body, okay? throw around some ideas for your new guitar with is
