SSL-1 pickup cover color?
Hello everybody!

custom sh-5 question.
I recently bought a Duncan Distortion for my Guild bluesbird, which if some you have never seen one is basically a (very sweet) Les Paul with a chambered body. It came stock with a 59 set which was sweet but not a metal pick up. Thats ok because i have an ibanez hollow body that would do great with a 59 in the bridge position, and soon a Jazz in the neck. Any way iI really liked the DD but heard a tone on a skillet album that really had a quot;growlquot; to it and decided to try an sh-5 custom as a seymour rep said it had more of a lower mid sound while the DD had more of an upper midrange sound. I was torn between the two, DD and DC. So i sent back the DD to and exchanged it for the custom. I had very high hopes for this pick up as so many of you seem to like it. Well, i put it in and to my ears it was muddy. I tend to think this is becuase my guitar being semi- hollow/ Mahogany has so much lower mids any way. Then theres my amp which is a recto and when you raise the gain on the modern channel it seems to accentuate the lower mids too, so I think it was over-kill. I Think in tha right axe it would be a killer pick up. I am going to send back the Custom and try a JB. I was wondering has any one else ever found the custom to be a bit muddy in their axe? Do you think the JB will sound better. I am kind of going for kind of a quot;Linkin Parkquot; rythym Tone. I am Keeping my 59 in the neck for now as i like the tone for solos, and i usually use the neck pick up to shred at least on this guitar. Any input i would be appreciated.

Matchless clips?
After reading Lew and GJ's Matchless threads, I noticed that my quot;Jquot; has a Matchless DC30 patch. I'm just wondering how accurate it is. (Probably, not much.)

Looking for a new amp (maybe classic 30)
Tried a Classic 30 today. One of the best sounding amps i have played. Looks like i'm going to be leaving the behringer 212 at school for jazz band, so i need a new amp for home. The classic 30 might be the one. I have an upper spending limit of about $500. A good SS amp would be fine too, but tube would be prefferable. Suggestions? I almost bought the peavey today.

Looking for pickups to compare with the Pearly Gates
I'm looking for pickups to compare with the Pearly Gates as far as tone and output are concerned. I'd really love to get a set of Pearly Gates, and I probably will eventually, but I need a similar pickup that I can get with a chrome cover. I know I can get one from the Custom Shop, but I really can't afford to pay that kind of price to have a cover put on it. I was thinking maybe a Gibson 490 set or BurstBucker set would closely compare, or maybe DiMarzio Air Nortons or some type of DiMarzio Airbucker with the new Chrome Tops option. I read on here somewhere today that DiMarzio's Airbucker pickups incorporate some sort of spacing between the magnet and it gives the pickup a tone that closely resembles an A2 pickup. Anyway, that's what I'm looking for, unless someone knows where I can find a chrome covered Pearly Gates.

Looking for song clips of low vs high volume marshall sounds
Do any of you guys have clips of a marshall amp with distortion up high at a high and low volumes? I have yet to hear the cranked marshall tone yet from my amp. I just want to know how much of a difference I would hear compared to running at the usual 2 on master volume, with the sound differences with a marshall cranked up to 5 or beyond on the master volume. I know that marshall's are the amps to crank loud to get a great tone.

what song is this called?
I don't know much of the lyrics, but it goes, quot;mommy alright, daddy's alrightquot;. I heard it on the Detroit Rock City movie, then at my friends bass teachers gig. Anybody know it?

Easy, cheap mod to SD1?
For the pedal modders... Are there any easy to do, cheap mods for a Boss SD1? I wouldn't mind a little more bass, a better bypass and less noise... And of course if possible, more boost but eh I guess I can't have it all eh...
Thanks guys!

Angus Young quot;Let There be Rockquot; tone
You guys know what pups he was using on this record? It is the nastiest guitar tone I have ever heard. It sounds like his gtr. is burning!!
