I bought a Jimmy Vaughn strat a few months ago that i really like(been a Les Paul guy for years)and i wanted to update the the pick-ups in it.Not that the texas specials are bad i just thought i could get a little sweeter sound out of some better ones.Going by what ive read here i went with a set of Texas Hots.Well im kinda disappointed. They do sound nice but the guitar seems to of lost some of its character and zip i guess you could say.Maybe i should of went with Surfers or California 50s set.I just dont think alnico IIs work in this guitar for that real strat tone.Any comments welcomed and i will be selling the Hots if anyone is interested.Jason

Review: Mesa 2X12 Recto Cab
Disclaimer: I am not a big fan of Mesa amps. I have owned a couple and they always went back to the store after no more than 2 weeks.

Please help me decide on a wah for high gain purposes!
Ok so I have enough cash, but I keep getting overwhelmed by (boutique) wah reviews. I A/B'ed the Morley Bad Horsie 1 and 2, they were good but the amp I tried them with didn't really work with me so I didn't really get to know the high gain sound.

Anyone tried this PUP config in a Les Paul?
Pearly Gates neck with a '59 bridge?I've got a brand new zebra PGn layin around. I like it as a neck pup as it's not as woofy as a 59, and I can roll off the tone control to get that quot;womanquot; tone.

So if Audition sucks for drum editing...
What program would complement in that department? Are there any dedicated drum editing programs out there that would work well in ocnjunciton with Audition? I don't tend to finalize my drum tracks before recordign anythign else, so I'm a little annoyed at the idea of having to do all my durm editing away from the rest of the music, but I'm willing to give it a shot, I guess.

PG or APH-1?
I'm looking for a neck pup to replace the '59 with in my ESP Horizon (alder body, maple neck-thru, string-thru body). It will be matched with a Custom Custom.

The Fulltone FullDrive 2's frequency response...
Hey everyone,
Im unfortunently have never played a FD2, but am curious about it. My main beef with tubescreamer-ish pedals is that the bass is cut as the mids are boosted and will you get that cool, vocal sweetness, i always really miss the low-end and feel that with the bass cut the pedal isnt as full sounding as id like. Does the fulltone have the bass cut of TS style pedals? In standard mode how much of a mid-boost does it have and how much does the sound vary from and old TS?

Using an attenuator and a volume boost?
If you use an attenuator with a tube amp, can you still get a volume boost by putting an EQ pedal in the effects loop or by changing channels? Or does the attenuator compress the output of the amp in such a way as to prevent the volume increase?

A couple of quot;modsquot; from my scrapbook.
Edit: I've left this post intact for posterity's sake, rather than delete it, but just wanted to let folks know that mod #1 didn't stand the test of time, and I don't recommend it. Mod #2 did, however, and it adds several nice new tones to an HSH configured guitar.

TASCAM m-30 mixers: Anyone know anything?
I have the opportunity to buy one of these for $75 Canadian. It's used, and from the 70's. Does anyone know anything about the company, or better yet the particular model?
