hello fellow guitarist's.
I just retired my old charvel spectrum after many years of good use, it was getting battered at gigs, etc
I bough a Jackson dx10dfs, a japanese job. A good guitar but the duncan designed pickups imo are not very good (would you agree?)
I play all types of music, a friend recommended a 59 for the bridge and jazz pickup for the neck....any advice would be most welcome.
Welcome to the forum.
I don't think that would be a bad combination at all. I haven't had much experience with a 59 in the bridge, so I'll let someone else elaborate on it. The jazz is one of the more popular neck pickups and will do well for many types of music.
Another combination you might consider is a JB in the bridge and a 59 in the neck. That's what came in my Jackson and I love it. I play mostly hard rock and metal with it, but I've been able to pull off some blues and country with it, too.
Either of those would be good combos, IMO. They're both very versatile. You might want to listen to some of the clips of each of them, and see what you like.
Thanks JacksonMIA, anyone else out there going to put their 2 cents worth in?
i'd say JB/Jazz the '59 neck can be a bit bassy for some, its very dependant on the wood type..
also, the JB sounds nicer split..
