Since I'll be getting a new strat soon and I currently have a guitar with a humbucker in it and maybe by summer will have an Epiphone Dot, I was wondering which pickups I should put into both if I want to get a tone kind of like Clapton's.
On the Strat I'm really looking for the Derek and the Dominos tone, the tone from Layla specifically.
On the Dot I'm trying to of course get his Cream tone, specifically I want to be able to get that raw humbucker sound from Crossroads and the woman tone from Sunshine of Your Love.
So, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

i would suppose either 59's, seth lovers, or antiquities for the humbuckers
what kind of amp(s) do you have? you might want to make sure you have a nice sounding amp before you spend thousands or even in the upper hundreds on guitars.

1 for the surfers.
I would go '59's for the humbuckers and skip the a2 humbuckers.
Has anyone tried the Bare Knuckle Slow Hand single coils? They seem like they would get the Clapton tone very well. Though I will still probably go for the Surfers.
The real problem is deciding which magnets in the PAF pickups. I've read in some places that his ES-335 had PAF pickups with AlNiCo 2s, and some say they were Patent Number pickups with AlNiCo 5s. I'll have to do a bit more research on the humbuckers, but right now the 59s, Seths or Antiquities are looking to be the best choices.

I used to get pretty close to quot;Badgequot; tone when I had Seths in my Sheraton. quot;Crossroadsquot; is an alnico V PAF loaded SG.
