I have a Crate GT212 amp. It's a 120 watts and has 2 12's. I'm wanting to upgrade to a half stack. I'm wanting something with a good bang for your buck. I saw a Behringer V- Ampire LX1200H head. It sounds like its a good head. I read reviews on it and people say it'll sound like a Marshall, Mesa, and Fender. And it's only $200 on Musicians Friend. I'm wanting to know if it would be a good head to get or not. And if anybody has any other suggestions for a head, please do tell.
I had a V-amp 2 and loved playing with it! Your probably getting the same sounds as the V-amp 2. I played around with the same head your talking about a GC a few months ago and it sounds ok. It's price is great and if your not a tone snob you'll probably like it too. It is what it is, a low priced amp head that does too much for it's price! I used a Marshall MG100 Head yesterday at GC and I was kinda shocked at how well I like it! It is more expensive than the V-amp but not that much more expensive. ($419) Good luck and I hope you enjoy whatever you buy.

For a cheap modelling amp I really liked the V-Ampire. I had the combo version and it was a great amp for practising and recording direct to PC. However, if you can save and spend more I would wait and get a tube halfstack or combo. Why waste a few hundred bucks on an amp that prolly won't keep up with a band in a gig situation (I know the combo version wasn't loud enough)?
