i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on finger picking?

stuff like playing a simple rhythm on the bottom strings and melody on the top ones like the old blues pickers. i know practice practice practice... just looking to start on the right foot.

I would recommend buying the book quot;The 20 studies for guitar by Fernando Sor.quot;. Its a great starting point into learning how to finger pick and the techniques will transfer nicely to modern finger-style styles such as blues and Jazz. To get the most out of it stick ith the suggested notations for right hand fingerings pimac

p = thunb
i = index
m = middle
a = ring
c = pinky though its rarely used.
