I want to put a symbol in a cell with a number, [ 2] for example. However
when I do this Excel automatically removes it, [ 2] becomes [2]. How can I
get Excel to leave the cell, or others like it, alone?

Hi,

Type a single quote first and then type what you need.

For eg. type =' 2 which would appear as 2

Govind.

Precede your data with an apostrophe
