I am using the checkbox in a document however the box must be marked with an

There was a post that covered this subject in the newsgroup
microsoft.public.excel.programming on the 21st December last yeat that
covered this situation.
Go to groups.google.com and use the search string 'excel checkbox cross
instead tick' (without the quotes) and you should find it easily enough.
