I went to a local G.C. the other day and played some cheapo Ibenez jazz guitar. Ime not a big time jazz player but ive ventured off into it becouse I like useing some of the chords when I play blues-like Stevey Ray Vaugan used to do infact thats where I got the idea. I dont want some big time exspensive Jazz guitar but Ime thinking maybe one of those cheapo Ibenez guitars might do the trick. I think most list around $650 to $750.
Has anyone else played one or own one of these guitars? can you give me a review? I thought maybe if I switched out the pickups and put in some Duncans I could make it work but ime not sure about the tuners or nut or electronics-all three being weak spots on cheap guitars. Is there somthing else in this price range I should be checking out instead thats any better? Ime hopeing to increase my knoledge of Jazz but I dont want to spend a fortune cuz right now its just something I like but ime not realy serious about it. When I play my strats I find myself playing blues or rock again in about 20 minutes. Ime hopeing the Jazz guitar will help me to focus alittle more-thnx

My 66 BF Pro Reverb Amp At Practice Last Night
Well...There's still something special and to be said about an all tube amp...I'm really only talking about the overall feel of the amp and not just the tone though...I've been using my Cyber Twin and the Valvetronix amp for quite awhile and these amps sound great, but I guess I was missing the overall feel and vibe we get from a great sounding tube amp...

Question for Amp Techs about biasing
I bias my amps with a mA bias tool socket that plugs into my mA (volt/ohm) meter. If I begin biasing around the EL-34 36mA range, then the range of the bias pot slowly starts shifting upwards, even though I can't get it lower than 52mA, what is happening? I'm not visibly frying my tubes, but after 15 minutes of messing with it, the bias range seems to read 48mA - 70mA. Is there an accumulated charge on the plates, or should I let them cool, then try again?
