hihi.. just got a 2nd hand jazz (bridge) pickup.. actually was looking for a neck version.. aniwae.. was wondering wat other pickup would u recommend as the neck pickup (preferably seymour duncan)?
is it possible to use the jazz (bridge) in the neck position and get a jb for the bridge position? Thanks for answeing my queries!

hi ! welcome to the forum!!
bridge pups are wound to be higher output that the neck ones. i dun know if you can do that. hope the wiser forum members can answer u.

what style do u play? what guitar do u have?

The Jazz bridge in the neck should work great with a JB in the bridge. A jazz bridge is wound just a hair hotter than the Jazz neck thats about the only difference I can think of. I say, go for it. You could always offer to trade your Jazz bridge for a jazz neck. Someone might take you up on it.

you could always try lowering the neck pup a touch if you find it to be out of balance with the bridge pup

good luck

Hi! i play mainly blues and classic rock.. looking to learn to play some jazz.. currently im planning to install the pups into my vantage sg copy..

For all the styles you mentioned, I think a '59 would be a better choice. I used to have a '59 in the neck spot of my SG, and it was cool for what you listed, but I really am more of a modern-rock sort of guy, so the Jazz fits my taste much better as I think it handles more gain better. If you're looking for a really fat, smooth neck pickup, the Jazz is not your best bet as it is a lot brighter and thinner (but not in a bad way) than the '59 to my ears. Other neck pickups I've seen recommended for those styles are the Pearly Gates and the Alnico 2 Pro. As far as the Jazz bridge in the neck spot, JOLLY, another member here described it as being a beefed-up Jazz neck.

A Jazz bridge in the neck slot will be fine. Usually the bridge models in a set are slightly hotter and have a slightly lower resonant peak (darker) to compensate for the bridge positions lower output and extra brightness which is caused by the smaller string excursion and proximity to the bridge.

A JB and a Jazz bridge in the neck slot sounds like a good plan to me.
