Alright guys, here's the deal. One of my old singers came over today and laid out some vocals for my stuff. I like it, but most of the people who have listened say that they hurt more than help. I'd like to hear some more vocal styles over my music, just to see what would work.

from : localhost/you want to take a shot at it, shoot me a PM and I'll get you an instrumental copy of whichever track you want.

I'm looking for everything from powermetal to growls to shreiks, and anywhere inbetween, so even if you don't think it'll work, I want to hear it!

I'd say the vox would work a bit better if they got brought down in the mix, compressed a bit more, and it sounds like you need a pop filter.

Do I recognize that riff from somewhere Jeff?

email 'em to me and I'll try to come up with something...

you have lyrics?

IMO, those vox don't do justice to the tracks. They sounded alright in Struggle Of The Commons, though. It could just be that I'm not into that style of vocals.

If you ask me, Matt Barlow style vox would work well.

Kick ass tracks though, instrumental-wise.

i havent listened to the song, but if youre looking for some singing that sounds like lemmy with a sore throat, send it

dude.... we're guitarists.. we cant sing

1 those vocals are loud. It also sounds like he needs to stand back away from the microphone, cause its awful muddy like hes just eating the thing.

Just updated them a bit remixed, let meknow if it's any better.

I think it's amazing that you already have all of this stuff planned out and are experimenting with vocalists from all over the place! It kicks ass!!

I would offer to do them but my voice isn't all that suited to Death Metal type stuff. However, the other guitarist/vocalist in my band can do some kickass vocals... we've already recorded some covers like LoG's Omerta and it sounds insane! Shoot me those tracks and maybe he could give them a shot?

Well it's definitely been pulled down a bit but it sounds to me like the mic doesn't have much headroom and it's getting too much air. I'll be home early tomorrow so if you shoot me over a track and lyrics I'll definitely give it a go.

can you send me the instrumental for struggle of the commons? i'll see if i can pull something off when i'm alone at home =/

Something King Diamond-ish or Rob Halford-like would kick ass over your playing. That grunting growling snarling stuff just doesn't do it. He's not even singing.

Don't ask me to try anything cause the best you'll get is classic rock style....lol.

Incredible playing. For someone who's 14, you have incredible chops and great rhythm. I'll admit, Death Metal isn't easy to play. It takes a lot of articulation and precision. You have to be spot on and you do it well. Keep it up.

Omerta is an AMAZING song. And nice tracks Jeff, but i'm not digging the growls. Not clear enough for me.

sounds awsome man. I cannot beleive your 14! Put the vocals back a bit in the mix.

Yea the songs sound good jeff, not bad at all. You still using digital amps or are you actually recording from your 5150? Either way it sounds pretty good. I agree with everyone else on the vocals... the guy tries but hes not quite there. Still way too loud in the mix IMO.

Thanks guys. Amir did a great job on Struggle of the Commons, the final mix can be heard at from : localhost/that was a PODxt on the 5150 setting.

Haha, better clarify a bit. All I did was mix the existing vocal track better

I DID however do a rendition of the last sunrise which turned out to be the wrong song I had in mind but whatever, had fun anyway. I'll wait to have Jeff hear before posting that. Would probably be best if he got the vocal track and mixed it down from his computer anyway to avoid a double mp3 loss on the rest of the song.

from : localhost/has a killer voice

He's buried too much in the mix and too much reverb. Otherwise, it's better than what was on there even if it's not my style. Amir does it much better.

Agreed, WAAYY better voice, but kill the reverb and it will be fine. GJ guys.
