Ok here is the problem. My first bass was an Epi Les Paul Bass, and at the time that I got it I played the crap out of it. Since then I have moved on to better sounding amp; playing basses. I still have it because I new that I could never sell it for anything like what was given for it amp; I like to look at it. I still take it out look at it (It is for all of its other failings a very pretty bass) amp; play it, but it just doesn't sound good to me anymore. The factory pups amp; electronics are crap. Something that I find is common for guitarsamp; basses from the Far East. I would like to replace the pups, but the bass is routed just like a Les Paul guitar. That is, it is routed for amp; came with standard size humbuckers. The only company that I can find that makes a standard size replacement humbucker is EMG, amp; I just never liked the way EMG bass pups sounded. I bought a cheep Peavey pup from my guitar player not too long ago when the wax holding my bridge pup in that bass melted amp; the pup fell out of the bass. I was thinking about building a mount / ring amp; putting in a mini humbucker in the bridge, and leaving the cheep peavey guitar pup in the neck. If there are no other options I would like to have some custom shop pups made, but I don’t know how much that would cost or how to go about that. I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions at all on this.

Rio Grande makes a pickup called quot;Pitbullquot; i belive it's called and it's looks like it could fit LP basses, check if there site got measurement on the pup and see if it will fit or else send them and e-mail!

Another option would be a bladed guitar pickup. Currently, the only one I can think of would be the X2N from Dimarzio and the Dimebucker form Duncan. Out of those two, I'd go with the Dime, due to it's higher resonant peak.

Get a pair and set them very low into the rings, or even wire them in parallel and they would probably work.
