so.. i'm building up new GAS for a guitar and i'm getting quite specific now

allright:
Wood:
alder. no special top, just plain bookmatched alder

Neck:
Maple, ebony fretboard, 24 frets. no inlays or piranha teeth abalone inlays (cant decide on that one yet) pointy jackson headstock, no binding, medium jumbo frets. chrome locking nut and chrome tuners. the same profile, width and thickness as my charvel (maybe 1mm thicker overall). bare wood. 15quot; fretboard radius

pups and config:H-H setup; TB-4 bridge, Jazz (or 59) neck.. cant decide yet. master vomule, master tone, 500k CTS pots and a 5 way switch (pos 2 and 4 split the buckers into singles) placement like the charvel 750XL's

now the fun part:
Dinky body, scalloped lower and upper horn, no archtop. BOLT on neck, but with a special heel, that extends towards the neck to give more of a neck through heel-feel. why bolt on? i like the snappiness of it (and i'm hella clumsy by nature to boot gt;.lt; ) 25.5quot; scale, original chrome floyd.output jack on the side of the body

Color:
either translucent red (damn you Juan!!!! that charvel looks beautiful!!!) or a natural orangey color. both with matching headstock.
will have to think about the headstock logo though.. gotta have something there hehe

all in all.. a few mods here and there to my Charvel Fusion

so..post away. love reading threads like this. and what ya think of my axe?

Singlecut in the trend of a McNaught, finished in trans green
5A Flame maple wings (natural bound)
matching Flame maple neck-thru-body, 25quot;
(I'm gonna give up my expensive taste for ebony in this thread so: ) neck and fretboard single piece
Baby dragon inlays and markers (abalone)
Dunlop 6100, 24 frets
Compound radius 10-16quot;
neck thickness and wideness identical to a Jackson KE2
Tonepros Tune-o-matic string-thru-body bridge (nickel)
Graphtec nut
Sperzel locking tuners (nickel)

Duncan Custom/Full shred combo
1 tone pot set to split both neck and bridge depends on the 3-way switch (w/ out of phase in the middle position)
LR Baggs piezo bridge and tone volume control to go with it

Tummy cut
Flame maple bezels, chrome screws, Schaller straplocks

Body:

Black limba
Ibanez JS shape
String through w/ Hipshot hardtail
Ibanez all access neck joint
H-H setup
Master tone/master volume/3-way switch (both knobs push/pull to tap each pickup)
SD Custom Custom/A2P pickups
All black hardware

i wish i could say that for mine ..

i'm still thinking how to pull the heel off .. i'd have to work closely with a luthier for that one, not just give out an order .. meh

I'm thinking the JS body shape and the AANJ should give me plenty of room, plus I have alien-like long, lanky hands

But I think I'll have to settle for an Agile .

I have 3 Custom guitars in MY MIND
1 - A modified Dean Cadilac, with 2 horns, not just the left horn. Mahogany Body, maple neck, ebony fretboard.22 frets. SET NECK. locking tuners. earvana NUT. some bridge and tailpiece. colour? Translucent BLUE. just like DSS Gibson.
Pickups? A pair of SD live wire heavy metal bridge. live wire classic neck.
2 - Modified Schecter Avenger. with MORE Curves on The Body
Poplar Body, gotoh chrome floyd rose bridge and gotoh locking tuners.
Duncan Custom Bridge/Duncan Jazz Neck
colour?figured maple cap in YELLOW AND RED.
3 - Modified CHarvel fusion deluxe body. just this simple modification : a more Opened
Cutaway/horn(the left one, of curse) caus i have a ****ing long hand.
mahagonay Wings, Basswood centre, and neck thru maple with rosewood fretboard.
A pair of SD WFD custom humbuckers
chrome hardware. Gotoh floyd rose and tune machines.
Natural Finish.

That´s IT.

To be short, my dream guitar has to be a hollow bodied Ash tele with all my custom dream opitons, including a really really fat wenge neck with maple fingerboard, stainless steel frets, S-S-H Alnico 2 pro single coil x 2, Custom custom pickup config.

The pickup switch is only going to have three pickup selections, Neck pickup only, neck\middle in paralell, and brigde pickup. Also, the brigde humbucker can be split with the volume control.

Gold plated hardware, LSR roller nut, Bigsby trem and straplocks.

Of course it should be strung with Rotosound 10-52's

Cheers,
-Erlend

My dreams are pretty simple. Take an SG Standard (cherry), make it neck-through, and add a string-through the body TOM bridge.

Body - Chambered carved top one piece black limba singlecut similar to a Gauge, PRS or Heatley with a 5A, one piece honeycombed flame maple top. Natural flame maple body binding. 2 vol/2 tone with custom shop SD nickel covered H/Bs. Tonepros tune-o-matic w/ string thru bridge. Schaller straplocks.

Neck - Natural tung oiled one piece black limba, soft V 22 fret neck with a 1 5/8 bone nut, volute and Buzz Feiten tuning. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with compound radius. Rounded neck amp; headstock flame maple binding. Paua birds in flight inlay. Chrome locking tuners and natural headstock face.

Body finished in crimson tiger eye nitrocellulose.

Body:
White korina/limba
koa top
telecaster style
tummy and forearm cut
sculpted heel
rear-routed
clear gloss

neck:
maple
ebony board
stainless steel med/jumbos
scalloped
LP-style neck shape
clear satin

Pickups/electronics:
Duncan custom 5
2 lindy fralin blues specials
Master volume/Master tone
5 way switch
2 mini toggles, one taps bridge, one engages neck pickup

Hardware:
Schaller locking tuners
Hipshot fixed bridge

She's almost done too. Just gotta sell a few things to buy the body...

Jeff, that is the NICEST colour I've seen on a guitar. What is it?

That's Manhatten Midnight. Gorgeous stuff.

Right that settles it, my dream custom guitar is a strat, with a bridge humbucker in that finish.
