All the clips are at 96kps I think? Should be quick to download and listen to, they're about 30 seconds each.

STC-3a alternative wiring?
I'm interested in getting the STC-3a tone control circuit along with the AJB-5 pups. My bass is a 3 control config but the only wiring diagram for the STC-3 is for a four control config. I would rather not alter my bass, is there an alternative wiring scheme available for this preamp?

Pickup compatibility with my ESP(EMG)
I have a 7-string ESP, Stephen carpenter signature model and am not real happy with the default EMG 81-7 active pickups and electronics. I am new to the whole quot;switchin' outquot; pickups game, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions (hardware-wise) on how I could tighten up the low B string for better clarity. I really wanna enhance my mids and highs for better sustain and harmonic response. Right now, the silencing effect of the EMG's seems to block out any quot;organicquot; feel, it's almost mechanical-like. I was also wondering how I could go about getting a coil tap installed onto the guitar and how much that would cost me. Thanks for any help anyone could give me.

Repair question
OK, so, i'm workin on an old ibanez destroyer from the 80's, one of the smaller-bodied ones with the extra cutaway. I've been stripping the black paint off of it, and have just noticed that it's got black binding all around the top of the body.

Best Nonlocking Trem....
Right now, I have the trem on my OLP MM1 (please hold your laughter, it's a screamer) set down hard. I'd really like to get back into using the trem in my playing. It's a vintage 6-screw type. Can I do some Satriani-style stuff with a vintage trem or not? Also, if I do need to replace my trem, I'd really like to not use a locking trem. I would use locking tuners. What's the best nonlocking trem out there?

Live Wire Metal's, any good?
I just got a gig in a local band playing stuff like Metallica, Pantera and BLS, so I'm considering making one of my Paul's into a metal machine. I have tried the EMG 81/85 set up and liked it, but would like to know how the Live Wire Metal's are.

rethinking cool rails
Folks-
Thanks for all of your input when I was selecting pups for my maple parker nitefly- I was looking primarily for a gilmore/knophler sound with lots of other sounds and it looks like we got 2 out of 3 dead on- The JB in the bridge handles humb duty well and splits extremely well with the Dmzo cruiser- The cruiser turned out to be the suprise pup- I'd heard lots of great things about the JB, but the crusier turned out to be the perfect middle poistion pup for everythign I do-

pup variation for max effectiveness in jimmy page wiring ?
I've been considering jimmy page wiring for a Les Paul of mine. It is my understanding that doing so will allow for a huge spectrum of tonal qualities within one guitar. My question is : would it be best to choose very different pups for neck and bridge ( eg AIIP neck w/ JB bridge ) to increase the variations, or can the wiring be used effectively with eg AIIPs in both neck and bridge ?

Overdrive pedal for cheaper SS amps.
A lot of the younger guitars that I teach ask me what Overdrive pedal they should get and I'm always a bit stumped. The reason being that they play cheaper solid state amps like the Peavey Rage or a Marshall MG and I don't really know what will sound good with these amps. I think I know a bit about what will sound good with valve amps and I hope I usually make valid recommendations based on what sort of sound they describe in conjuction with their guitar for these students. (Phew!)

How many watts is enough?
Hey all, as some of you know I've been looking for a tube amp, and after some great advice from everyone here (thanks!), I'm stuck between a Peavey Classic 30 and a Traynor YCV20 combo. Both are a 1X12 combo, with a master volume and reverb. Now the Peavey is 30 watts, and comes with a Blue Marvel speaker. Unless the speaker was incredibly great I'd plan on changing it to a Greenback speaker or G12H30. The Traynor is 15 watts, Class A, with a Greenback speaker standard. They are both around the same price, the Traynor being only a little bit more. Now I'd be using whichever one I get for practice at home, with my fledgeling band, and eventually (and hopefully) some small shows. So here's my question : how many watts is enough for that? 15 or 30? Thanks!
