I recently upgraded to Office 2003 amp; I noticed something missing in the
formula bar that was not missing when I used Office 2000.
What is missing is the “=” sign next to the “Formula Bar” box that is right
underneath the tool bar. The problem is that when I enter for example “2 3”
in the formula bar in Excel 2000 and hit the enter key, I would not get a
total of 5 in the cell because I forgot to enter the “=” sign in front of
“2 3”. What I would do then is to place my cursor on the cell and click on
the “=” next to the formula bar without having to click on the cell where I
entered the “2 3” and enter the “=” in front of it.
Does anyone know what I need to do to have the “=” sign next to the “Formula
Bar”?The = icon disappeared in xl2002.
You can add an = icon
Tools|customize|commands tab|Insert category
(Scroll down the list until you find the = icon)
And drag it to your favorite toolbar (nicely positioned).
It's not quite the same, but maybe it'll be sufficient for you.
