I am having a strange issue with Excel. When I save .xls file attachments
from an email to the J:\ drive ( a server), sometimes they are saved as
read-only. Can you please tell me what is the solution for that. Thank you in
advance.
I had the same issue and thought the authors of documents had saved it that
way. I found out (in the Word newsgroup) that a common reason for the
read-only attribute being applied to an attachment is because the attachment
was opened from the:
Preview Pane (Outlook 2000/XP)
or
Reading Pane (Outlook 2003)
I've had no problems with read-only now that I make a habit of opening the
message then saving the attachment.
