Okay gents......I have been through a lot of pickups and can't nail it with my Mccarty. The lows on this guitar are dark and not to clear - needs more punch as well! I have the Dragon IIs back in and like the neck a lot - very clear and about 9k. Could be a bit more vintage but it works. I am going to check with Lew about ordering a nickel covered C-5 since this seems to be the go-to McCarty-Duncan match. Any thoughts guys?

Soundproofing a Garage
I just bought a house and plan on using the Garage for a practice/recording studio. Half of the garage is already insulated and drywalled and I'm putting in a 2nd fusebox to power the shop.

Carvin Ctm6 vs PRS custom 22 Question??
I am very interested in a PRS type 25quot; scale guitar and may be getting one in a few months. I have rercently tried out a PRS and it had a very nice feel to it, didn't plug it in as I was doing something else there and was just trying to test the feel of it. I have also seen a catalogue of carvins california carved tops and they look preaty sweet too. The PRS obviously has a little more cosmetic appeal with the bird inlays. Thing is the I can get a carvin much cheaper than a PRS. That is even if you price a PRS through guitar center or musicians friend. So is the PRS really a better guitar or is it just the name your paying for. I know you can more easily get the features you want on a carvin. On the flipside more well-known guitar players play PRS. So do any of you know if PRS is better. Any of you familiar with both and have some wise input as it seems stupid to pay more for the basically (minus bird inlays) the same guitar if that is actually the case. Any wisdom anyone in the know could offer would be most appreciated. Thanks Guys.

What looks better on a black guitar?
I want to get some decal bobbin toppers for my Ibanez SCA220 that I just picked up and make the pickups creme/black zebras. But what color mounting rings would look best? There is black on there now, or should I go with creme rings. If anybody has a black guitar with zebra pickups, please post some pics so I can see how they look. Thanks

How would one go about changing the power tube type in an amp?
Is changing the power tubes in an amp incredibly complicated like changing things on the circuit or is it just rebiasing it for that type of power tube?

What Scale Length Do You Play?
Are you only playing a certain scale length on your guitars? I've noticed that while many of my favorite players use different axes, they usually are all the same scale length.

Parts are starting to show up...
Got the matchless 15 watt trannies in today before I left for the airport. Apparently these things are so over built that they kick out well over the 15 watts that are spec'd. Like 22 watts! This Franklin 15 is going to be one loud little 2xEL84 amp.

General ? about FUZZ function
I was wondering how any of you that are proficient at using fuzz pedals set them? I guess in general do you use them to generate the distortion on a clean to mildly overdriven channel? Use them to drive an already driven (dirty) channel in a boost fashion? I am really interested in how you set the volume and fuzz knobs. Being a novice at using a fuzz, I am looking for a little direction. After messing with for a bit tonight, I am getting the impression that one does not use a fuzz in the same way as a boost pedal (ts-9,808, sd-1). I enjoy the way Eric Johnson uses fuzz, and I think the holy grail in my book is Hendrix's usage of the fuzz during the song quot;Machine Gunquot; on the Band of Gypsies album. Also I understand that the '70 is not quite up to par with the '69, but that is what I have to explore with at the moment. I did figure out that the fuzz functions better before any valve buffer, or line driver.

Diamond plate Pickguard for tele
I've got a diamond plate pickguard for a telecaster here that I'd like to sell...and I'll sell it for 15 dollars, plus your choice shipping (3 for first class, 6 for priority). Here's a pic:
routed for two singles, and has enough clearance to house a humbucker telecaster bridge.
