I can get a JBJ from a 80's kramer for a real good price
i have heard THESE JB's are wound a little hotter?
they are at 17.2K instead of 16.4K
the custom shop started to re -issuse these for $140

Did the custom shop really start to reissue these?Where was this announced at?We've been told time and time again that they were exactly the same.....no changes have been made over the years....

there was a link posted somewhere but i cant find it now!

aha here is a pic of it

Many of the early Kramers came with Schaller humbuckers. It wasn't until sometime in 1985 that they started coming with JB's, and even those I believe were the normal wound models. Not all of them came with JB's however but that was the pickup used in most of them. If it's a zebra JB, it came out of a Baretta, and a reverse zebra too, cream slug coil/black screw coil.

i guess since they are regular wound JB on those they just have a aged magnet that is givin em a warmer tone ?

I'd be suspect. Schaller made a few humbuckers, one was a PAF type, the other was similar to a distortion class humbucker. Most likely Kramer may have been using the Schaller distortion pickups

I dunno. I've never heard of a hotter wound JB myself. This is new to me.

no i do know that the schallers on the pacers were PAF types
they are now called schaller golden 50's

Golden 50 (Bridge) Golden 50 (Neck)
A specially designed and manufactured Alnico magnet is the heart of this pickup, providing very fast and ensitive response to string vibration as well as a warm and full sound. The sound of the Golden 50 Humbucker accurately reproduces that of the late Humbucker of the 50's. To compensate the volume differences between the neck and bridge pickups, the neck version has a resistance of 7.4 kOhm vs. 8.2 kOhm for the bridge version.

the top one is the golden 50
What about the George Lynch JB that MJ is making for him?
It's a JB wound a little hotter with different wire and an A2 magnet!
Has anyone heard about this one?
George has it in most of his guiatrs now.
LESTER- Check your messages, Bro!!

OK! HOLD ONE A MINUTE!

the JB Proto is NOT like the JB's that came in the old Kramers...

The JB's from 80's Kramers, JBJ's, JB Prototypes and the old vs. new JB has been discussed at great length on the forum many many times...I will break down the basics...

-First, no 2 JB's will be exactally the same DC...the number you see for DC on the tone chart is a general number if you buy a JB it will vary a bit from that number.

-JBJ's are JB pickups wound by MJ and due to the fact that they were stock pickups in lots if old Kramers and the fact that MJ now works in the CS with Seymour some guys say that they have a mojo or magic about them but as far as the specs go the are the same as any other JB

-The JB Prototype is a JB with an Alnico II magnet...the coils are THE SAME as any other JB, the JB Proto has nothing to do with Kramers, George Lynch or MJ in any way

AS for old JB vs. new ones, like I said this has been discussed several times and Evan has even chimmed in on the subject...there is no difference.

^^^ Thats vault worthy.

What happens to the tone in a JB when a A2 magnet is put in??

Amen.

I don't see the mystique about the JBJs. I bought three of them last year (and a zebra DDJ a couple of months ago)...sold two...and I could not hear much of a difference between them and the a newly wound JB. People freak out becasue they are wound by MJ, but they sound pretty much the same to me.

Troll Ebay, they can be had for $30 a pop.
